For Dr. Shrikant Dalal, no spine surgery is too complex. After all, he has spent over a decade
in pursuit of perfecting the art of minimally invasive spine surgery. Having performed
countless challenging spinal reconstructive procedures, his contributions to the field are
recognised across the globe. As Chief Robotic Surgeon at Ruby Hall Clinic, he strives to help
patients suffering from complex spinal ailments live life to their fullest.
As a leading spine specialist, Dr. Dalal has pioneered some of the latest advancements in
minimally invasive robotic spine surgery. His interests lie in orthopaedic oncology and
reconstruction with a special focus on complicated trauma cases. He says, “Being one of the
handful of surgeons in the country to perform robotic and endoscopic spine surgery comes
with immense responsibility. He considers it his duty to enhance the lives of his patients through
his work and he is consistently focused on raising the bar when it comes to clinical outcomes.”
Dr. Dalal earned his medical and post graduate degree from India and received advanced
training in spinal sarcoma through a fellowship at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital,
U.K., spinal surgery at the Royal Victoria Infirmary Hospital, U.K, and the University
Hospital of Alberta and Royal Alexendra Hospital, Canada. For the last one year, he has been
a professor at the Dalhousie University, Halifax, Canada. He also holds a masters degree
from Edinburgh.
With a license to practice in the U.K, Canada and India, he chose to come to his home
country to hone his passion for spinal and musculoskeletal ailments. “The role of
orthopaedics in changing people’s lives, often dramatically, is what drew me back to India.
Spine surgery done for the right reason has some of the best results,” he says. Having
conducted over 250 lumbar spine procedures, Dr. Dalal has also published peer reviewed
papers, served on the editorial board of international journals, presented conference podium
presentations and undertaken clinical trials.
He is a member of several professional organisations, including the AO Spine Society, the
Association of Spine Surgeons of India, the Indian Orthopaedic Association and the
International Society for Knowledge for Surgeons on Arthroscopy and Arthroplasty.read less
