Before I talk about Dr. Ashok Desai and Mrs. Neela Desai. I would like to add on how I managed to reach Dr. Desai and why I had to speak with him. What I would say for people who do not want to read the below - Dr. Ashok Desai and Dr. Neela Desai are that generation of Doctors who care and know what they are doing. They care, they value and they treat their patients honestly and with love. Thank you both.
My wife has been having severe upper back shoulder pain with lot of swelling. The pain was unbearable. So what did we do, we first went to Ruby Hall Clinic, Hinjewadi, Pune - we got an appointment with Dr. SD. She just had a look at my wife from her chair, asked what the issue was, declared it was a trapezius muscle pain without checking her back, and prescribed few pain killers and Volini. The meeting lasted for a max of 3 mins. We paid her consultation fees for a 3 min meeting. No proper diagnosis nor had any consideration for the severity of the issue. We followed what she declared and prescribed, but no relief, which we had predicted with the kind of approach Miss.Dr. SD had shown. She was really unprofessional. Never ever a visist to her again.
We went Dr Sz an Ortho specialist (as per what is stated on the internet and flex outside his clinic). Initially, we felt he diagnosed the issue well, though even he did not check the back and just on our verbal communication decided to go for an X-Ray within his clinic - the result - nothing wrong with the bones. Then he also suggested few medicines and a 5-day Physiotherapy, which again was within his clinic. We followed the 3 day routine of medicines and the Physio. But, no relief. We had informed him of the numbness that my wife was having in her right hand fingers and elbow. But, he said she will get relief with the medicines and the Physio. We followed it for another 3 days, no relief. Everything stands as it was on the first day. So what Dr. S suggest after we told him, Dr "we think you should have a look at the spot where the injury or pain is". So, he gets up and looks at the spot where the pain was and he could see there was a boiling red rectangle patch. He said did my wife feel irritation or burning feeling, to which she said, 'yes'. So then he asked us to go for an MRI at his prescribed place. We got that done. We went to get a resolution after waiting for two days, due to appointment scheduling issues and non-availability and on the third day, he says he will suggest we to go and visit another Dr at Sancheti. Then we also spoke with a Dr in Mumbai over the phone, he did say it is a postoral issue and suggested few things to take care and told my wife to have Dolo 650 if the pain aggreviates.
This saga went on for 8-10 days and the pain was getting unbearable, though the swelling subsided. Then a friend of mine, recommended I better get in touch with Dr. Ashok Desai. He had a similar experience with some other Dr's and his visit to Dr. Desai got him healed within no time without the need of surgery, which another Dr at Haldikar hospital in PCMC, Pune had suggested.
When we tried reaching Dr. Desai, he was not locally available as he was traveling and was in London, and I thought we will not be able to meet him. But, Dr, Ashok & Dr. Neela did message us from London on WhatsApp as per our scheduled appointment on Practo.
Dr. Desai being far away and not even having seen the MRI asked a few things about the pain to my wife. He was just spot on. The moment my wife said to Dr. Desai that she is feeling numbness in the two fingers of her right hand and have severe upper back pain and read the MRI over the phone to him, he immediately asked, is there was a rash behind her back and how large was it.
We were just elated by his knowledge, cause just by telling him of the numbness he understood there could be a patch and burning sensation on the shoulder. He understood what the problem was and what treatment it needs. He prescribed few medicines that we checked were exactly for the kind of issue my wife was facing. He prescribed a 10-day course and the medicines have given a lot of relief to her now. As I write this, it's her third day of medication, and I am relieved as a husband that she is at a lot of ease now. She has not been able to lift her 10-month-old baby for more than 2 weeks and the medication prescribed by Dr. & Mrs. Desai came as a God-sent relief.
Dr. Desai understood what the issue was and said it is a postoral issue that has aggravated and needs attention. I am blessed to have got his appointment and been able to get his guidance.
Dr. Desai from so far, just over a phone call understood what the issue was, but these others who we visited had no understanding or they are doing this for reasons they know it well. Or are least bothered about what pain and suffering a patient goes thru. Maybe they are too tired to look at patients for having been doing this every hour by traveling from hospital to hospital for reasons we all know. They will reinscribe medicines that will only be available in their designated pharmacies or within their own unit. Isn't that integrity issue and being disloyal to one's profession and the oath they take?
I won't say all Dr's are such, but in this world, it is very scary to visit a Dr and a Lawyer. Though it was once said, you should never hide anything from a Dr and a Lawyer. But they in these times are the scariest. What a world we all live in.
I am really blessed that I have spoken to Dr. Ashok Desai & Dr. Neela Desai. I am at a lot of ease myself as a husband with a 10-month-old baby and wife who was going thru bad times.
