It was quite some years ago. I had had a cataract surgery done on my right eye. But in recent times, I was to realise that the other eye had pretty much degenerated.

Doctors suspected a macular hole in the retina now. Two of them we consulted in Delhi came up with conflicting opinions. Between them, they left little hope or will in an 80-year-old man to make a precipitate move.

Then a well meaning friend in US intervened, and he put in a word to Dr Anshu Arora, a surgeon-colleague and friend of his in Delhi. For sure, Arora was the kind of go-to person we so badly needed. And, no waiting, he made himself available in a couple of days of our phone call.

Such a pleasant person he has turned out to be, charming and friendly, Dr Arora put me at ease at the very first appointment. The way he explained the health issues – to a lay person – was noteworthy. To patient expectations of likely success, he responded with a show of uncommon modesty. Said Arora, “A doctor can do 80%. God does it 100%.”

What followed was a smooth back-to-back twin surgery – Vitrectomy and Cataract. A blend of youth and experience, it took Arora just over an hour. And he backed up a professional job at the OT with periodic post-op care and consultations at the well equipped VISION Eye Centre.

Thanks a lot to this young surgeon! He has brought a missing smile and glow back on my eyes as well as cheer and relief to the much troubled family. In the event, a ‘Tamaso Ma Jyotir Gamaya’ moment for all of us!

Had visited dr arora for my son’s eye concern. Varun was just 8 months young abd had developed redness in his left eye. He was rubbing his eye frequently and was upset. Dr investigated the concern and gave eye drops to be put twice daily for 5 days and assured there was nothing to worry but just normal issue of kids growing up and got little infection. Not just the consultation, he made sure to follow up with us via practo on regular basis and checked upon varu:n’s improvement. His follow up was bey kind and gave us a sigh of relief.
