With over one and a half decades of clinical experience, Alina has gained expertise in diagnosis, therapy and rehabilitation of children and adults with various psychological disturbances like depression, schizophrenia and personality disorders. At Unlimited Potentialities Clinic, she is also in charge of drug and alcohol rehabilitation for patients requiring hospital admission. Her proficiency in handling family dynamics has lead to her successfully counselling families settled in India and abroad. She has handled group therapy sessions for continued abstinence by substance abuse patients. Alina is an alumna of Women’s Christian Collage, Chennai and has completed her Masters in Clinical Psychology from SNDT University, Mumbai in the year 2000. She participated in International Symposium on Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder at NIMHANS, Banglore and Workshop on Community Participation in Health Care Management by Consulate General of Israel. She has also done a course in Management of Patients Requiring Palliative Care at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai. She has undertaken course on Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) from the EMDR Institute headed by Francine Shapiro and used it for patients suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) post 26/11. Prior to joining the clinic in 2004, she had vast experience in the field across the country. She had worked in Family Clinics with the Indian Navy as a counsellor, PNVM Hospital, Cochin as a consultant psychologist, and Tortures Prevention Centre by International Rehabilitation Council for victims of Torture (IRCT) (a United Nations project) as a Head of Department. She is invited as a guest lecturer for Post Graduate Students at SNDT, University. As a DG Shipping Certified trainer she is invited as a speaker at Board of Examiners, DG Shipping and Naval Maritime Academy for lectures on communication, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Multi cultural/multi linguistic interpersonal relations in sea farers.
