Professor Dr. Sundaram Natarajan is the CMD of Aditya Jyot Eye Hospital which is one of Mumbai's leading eye hospitals. Natarajan was conferred with the Padma Shri for his achievements in the field of Medicine. He hails from a long line of ophthalmologists. His father Dr. N. S. Sundaram and grandfather, Dr. Nataraja Pillai, were ophthalmologists of high standing in Chennai, India. He completed his post graduation in ophthalmology from Chennai. He worked as a Vitreo Retinal Surgeon, under Dr. S. S. Badrinath, at the Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai. In 1988, he joined the Taparia Institute of Ophthalmology, Bombay Hospital and continued his work there till 1990. Later that year, he took the decisive step of laying the foundation stone of Aditya Jyot Eye Hospital Pvt. Ltd. and has continued servicing the institution in his capacity of Director, Surgeon and guide to a large community of Vitreo Retinal Specialists.
I have been under the care of Dr Sundaram Natarajan for the last 2 decades* * *** *********** *** **** ** ** *** **** ******* ****** ** ***** ** ******* He is very confident and very understanding and calm with his patients. His has a very pleasing demeanor and his very presence instills confidence in the patients.
I have been operated on for Phakic lens implant and also undergone a laser for Retinal correction, both these procedures were carried out flawlessly. If you have an eye or retinal disease / disorderAJEH - Aditya Jyot Eye Hospital is the hospital to visit.
I can trust my vision completely in the safe hands of Dr Natarajan.
I was operated for ratina detachment on 31st March 2022 by Doctor Natrajan.
First of all he is such a personality that after brief interaction, you get a confidence that you are in right hands. While undertaking the surgery, he kept on keeping me in the high morale. The surgery was fully successful. The staff at Aditya Jyot hospital is very cooperative. Post surgery also, the recovery is fine without any complications.
He is a good doctor **** ***** ********* *** ********** *** *** ********** But he is soo rude. He doesn’t respect the patient. Even he have not touched my grandfather (patient) just looked in the file and starting telling you were supposed to look for doctor in emergency, *** *** *** **** ** *** **** ********** It’s okay if that diseases may not have any cure, but the doctor must explain about disease, what happened to my eye and all to patient rather then screaming.
I won’t suggest someone to visit this doctor and loss your Rs.5000 which is not a small amount. I am very upset with this behaviour. For me, respect and way of communication is more important then knowledge* *** **** ** ***** **** ****** **** ***

We especially took an appointment for Dr Natarajan to discuss our issue and take his personal opinion, for which we paid his consultation fees of Rs. 5000, which we already found quite high).
When our turn came he hardly spent 30 seconds and referred our case to a junior doctor. Junior doctor refused to discuss further unless we go for additional tests at their clinic. After the tests also only a junior assistant explained the things to us, and no time was given by Dr. Natarajan.
This left me with a very bad experience at Aditya Jyot Eye Hospital and I wouldn't want to visit this place again.
He is famous and flamboyant, you will see his photos with APJ Abdul Kalam and Aishwarya Rai all over his clinic, but I didn't find him as a good doctor who is focused on serving his patients.

We visited for retinal detachment.My mother had retinal detachment, and had had a surgery for this ***** *** **** ************* On our first visit, we were told there was less than 1% chance of a second surgery being successful. Long waiting time and staff less cooperative. We booked an appointment with Dr Natarajan 2 weeks ago before our visit and still we had to wait for more than 1.5 hours before consulting him.
