Dr. Muffazal Lakdawala

Dr Muffazal Lakdawala (Dr Muffi is the co-founder of Digestive Health Institute and currently serving as the director of “Department of General Surgery and Minimal Access Surgical Sciences” at “H.N. Reliance Foundation Hospital”, Mumbai. His surgical expertise spans the Gastro-Intestinal (GI) area and includes GI Oncology Surgeries as well.He is the Hon. Surgeon to the Vice President of India. He is a laparoscopic GI & Bariatric Surgeon with over 20 years of experience. He is the co-founder of “The Digestive Health Institute” based in Worli, Mumbai which is the 1st Bariatric Centre in India to have received “The Center of Excellence Award” in 2009 from “The Surgical Review Corporation USA”. “The Digestive Health Institute” has been the “#No-1 Bariatric Centre in Mumbai” for 4 consecutive years (2017 to 2020) by “The Times Health Survey”. Dr. Lakdawala has been awarded with the title of “Surgeon in the World, 2019” by the “American society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery”. In the same year, 2019, he was also awarded the “Illustrious IFSO World Educator” title by “International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders”.He has been awarded an honorary membership by the Korean, Japanese and Chinese Society of Surgery. He is the first bariatric surgeon in India to adopt the most advanced IV Gen Xi Robotic System. For which he has undergone robotic training from “Advent Health Celebration (Orlando, Florida)”. Currently, Dr Muffi offers robotic surgery for GI and Bariatric procedures at Sir HN Hospital Mumbai to his patients.A graduate of the prestigious Grant Medical College in Mumbai, he earned his Masters in Surgery from BYL Nair Hospital. He went to train further in Bariatric Surgery at Cleveland Clinic, Ohio and at the University of Ghent Hospital in Belgium; he has also trained in Advanced Colorectal Cancer Surgery in Seoul, Korea. And has many scientific publications to his credits.
