Bad experience.....!! I visited her for Anomaly Scan of my pregnant wife at 20 weeks. We were told that our baby has an absent nasal bone (a major marker for down syndrome). We were advised to go for Amniocentesis to rule out the possibility of down syndrome. This episode posed us following difficulties. 1. Four days of mental trauma, that my wife may have to go for abortion if it is the case of down syndrome till the results of test came out (result was negative). 2. living with the fact that our baby will have flattened nose till the baby was delivered. 3. High cost of the test (Rs. 30000 in my case). 4. This test carries minor risk of miscarriage an infection. We consulted different doctors immediately but everyone's opinion was based on the same report. The approach is fine if the fact "Baby has absent nasal bone" is true.
