She then went on to work 1 year practicing General Dentistry. She completed her MDS in 2012 in the field of Periodontology and Oral Implantology. She has been in clinical practice for the last 8 years and is a consultant at various clinics across South Mumbai. She has also done an additional certificate course in Implantology focusing on the restorative phase.She regularly attends lectures and conferences to stay abreast with the latest developments in her field. She has presented scientific papers and several posters at these conferences. She is a life member of the Indian Dental Association.In her spare time she is an active volunteer with Smiles32 Foundation, a NGO that organizes oral health camps for the underprivileged with the aim of providing good dental care to all.Her areas of expertise include stabilizing mobile teeth, preparing teeth for crowns, grafting of bone in deficient areas, performing surgeries on infected gums and cosmetic procedures.Dr. Snehal ThakkarOften seen as the bridge between medicine and dentistry, oral and maxillofacial surgery is the surgical specialty concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting the mouth, jaws, face and neck.Dr. Snehal Thakkar is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, who completed her post-graduation in 2009 with a Gold medal in the subject. She enjoys teaching and is an Associate Professor at the D.Y. Patil School of Dentistry, Nerul.She has done certificate courses in Implantology and Medical Aesthetics & Cosmetology (Botox and dermal fillers).She has Co-authored several National and International publications. She has also been invited as guest speaker and local faculty at workshops on basic principles of maxillofacial traumatology conducted by AO in the years 2014 and 2015.She is a member of Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of India. She has attended several conferences and presented several papers and posters.Dr. Snehal believes that correcting facial and skeletal deformities to help patients look “normal” boosts their self-confidence immensely. She is hence most passionate about this field in her subject.Subjects of interest are orthognathic surgery, implants and trauma.
