AquaCentric Therapy

Hello everyone, I am Capt. Shreerang Pethe, an airline pilot with a leading airline in India. At the beginning I had this tingling sensation in my last 3 to 4 fingers of my hand and my toes. My back was getting stiffer as days progressed and had difficulty bending backwards and could hardly turn to see over my right shoulder. Until one day I had shooting, terrible and unbearable pain in my right calf which put me off my daily chores. MRI scan revealed that I have posterior and right paracentral herniation of L5-S1 disc with sequestration and inferior migration (i.e. slip disc). I did see the best available Spine surgeons in Mumbai then, who advised me to do the surgery, not urgently but eventually in the coming days. Instead I ended up starting my physiotherapy to see how it can help me before heading straight to surgery. This is the time Dr. Firdaus Shaikh (now my physiotherapist) came to my rescue. During our first therapy session I took my MRI reports to show it to her, but instead of first glancing at it, she made me do some bending and twisting exercises initially to see my back posture and also to note down my twisting and bending limitations. And at the end of it she wrote down something on a piece of paper which exactly matched with what was mentioned in my MRI. Till this point I was not ready to believe that physiotherapy can help me in my case. Of all the impressive skills of Dr. Firdaus Shaikh this unique approach style *** *** ***** ** ***** ********* ** *** ******* *** indeed good enough for me to handover my slip disc case to her and thereafter all I did till date, was just to follow the instructions she gave me...During my therapy sessions with Dr. Firdaus she made me do planks, bridges, hamstring raises, superman, leg raises to name a few..I was stunned to see my graph rise on a daily basis and at the end of my last session I was amazed to see the sharp improvement in my bending and twisting limitations compared to the ones noted during my first session and ofcourse the tingling sensation and pain was all gone..

The one thing Dr. Firdaus Shaikh clearly told me on my last session is that all these exercises were meant to strengthen the core stability and now onwards if I need to stay in this shape then I got to keep doing these exercises as part of my weekly routine...So here I am, still meticulously following what Dr. Firdaus Shaikh told me a few months back, to maintain my core srability and ofcourse apparantly no requirement to do surgery anymore..******** **** ********* ****** *** ******* **** *** ** **** ** her work place is the unique ability of Dr. Firdaus Shaikh. This is my review for her as a thorough and professional physiotherapist.

I went to aqua centre with a knee issue. She examined me thoroughly and then explained my condition to me. I was very anxious of my inability to exercise, which she understood and took me thru the process of healing gradually and getting back to my physical activities. I thoroughly enjoyed the aqua sessions and started to learn swimming so that I could do the exercises outside of the centre too. I used to have land sessions for knee strengthening which also helped a lot. I would definitely recommend aqua centre to people with injuries.

Dr, Binal Dave- Always smiling, always cheerful, makes everyone taking treatment not only comfortable but cheerful. Under her stewardship, the entire clinic and all the therapist also feel and look cheerful.

Professionally, she is very observant and sees the strength and the weaknesses needing attention by occasionally taking the sessions herself for all the patients.

Her reviews are also well targeted to make the patients realise why what exercise is being prescribed.

Generally very pleasant and a capable therapist to work with.

It's quite rare to have a physiotherapist try and understand your specific need rather than just start the exercise program based on a diagnosis.

With Dr. Neetu, I found a patient, focussed and frankly honest healer whose greatest strengths are her disarming Nature and smile.

Being a motor neuron disease sufferer my treatment is probably for the lifetime and in such a scenario the right individual who knows when to use a smile and when to push you to your limits is a must to avoid worsening your condition.

She has introduced variations in my therapy to avoid boredom and in between sessions plays part-time counsellor too.

I look forward to my sessions, something which I would think of as tedious in the past and sharing the progress and goals is a must with her.

Most importantly, she has inculcated the habit of drinking water and not being inhibited by my shy nature to a kid using bathrooms.
