While serving with the Indian Army, he successfully completed his post graduation (MS) in Surgery from Delhi University (Army Hospital, R & R) and super – specialization (M Ch) in Urology from PGIMER, Chandigarh. While working with the army, he was posted mainly to Command Hospitals ( tertiary care centers with bed capacity around 1000 beds) as Urologist and had the privilege to work with state of art infrastructure and equipment. He took further training in urodynamics, laparoscopy, RIRS and use of the laser (KTP/Holmium) in urology and also attended various workshop and CMEs to update himself on these newer procedures. For providing exemplary service, high-quality work with utmost devotion & dedication, Dr. Rai was awarded the prestigious Chief of Army Staff Commendation Medal in 2007.
