Description
Trihexyphenidyl is used in the treatment of Parkinson's disease and extrapyramidal symptoms caused by other medicines. It may cause dizziness, therefore use with caution. Do not stop without informing the doctor as it may worsen the disease.

General warnings
Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome
This medicine may cause Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome (NMS) in patients who discontinued the treatment or reduced the dose. Any symptoms of fever, muscle rigidity, altered mental status should be informed to the doctor.
Tardive dyskinesia
This medicine is not recommended for tardive dyskinesia which is an involuntary movements of the tongue, lips, and face unless the patient has concomitant Parkinson's disease.
Infectious Diarrhea
This medicine decreases the elimination of bacteria that cause diarrhea, therefore, not recommended in patients with infectious diarrhea. Inform the doctor if you are having severe diarrhea or received antibiotics before receiving this medicine.
Psychotic symptoms
This medicine may cause psychotic symptoms like confusion, delusions, and hallucination. It should be used with caution in elderly patients due to increase in the risk of these symptoms.
Hypertension
This medicine may increase the blood pressure. Close monitoring of blood pressure is necessary, reduce the dose if the blood pressure rises.
Withdrawal effect
Do not stop taking this medicine without informing the doctor as it may worsen the disease. Gradual dose reduction should be made, and close monitoring of symptoms is necessary.
Pediatric use
The safety and effectiveness of this medicine have not established in children.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose of Trihexyphenidyl, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it’s almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed dose.
Overdose
Seek emergency medical treatment or contact the doctor in case of an overdose.
