Description
Topdep 10 MG Tablet is an antidepressant medication used in the treatment of depression (feeling of sadness, loss, or anger) and panic disorders (sudden feeling of intense fear or discomfort). Topdep 10 MG Tablet works by increasing the levels of a chemical called serotonin in your brain. Thus, it improves mood, reduces the feeling of anxiety, and decreases the frequency of panic attacks. Topdep 10 MG Tablet causes side effects that include nausea, diarrhoea or constipation, decrease in appetite, dry mouth, tremors, headache, increased sweating, drowsiness, changes in your sleeping pattern, and weakness. This medicine can also cause ejaculation disorder or decrease sexual desire. Topdep 10 MG Tablet should be taken at the same time regularly as directed by your doctor. Do not stop taking Topdep 10 MG Tablet without consulting your doctor as it may cause withdrawal symptoms. The full response to the treatment may be observed in 8-12 weeks. Take the missed dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next one at the regular time. Do not double the dose. Topdep 10 MG Tablet is not recommended in pregnancy as it can be harmful to your foetus, especially in the third trimester. Take your doctor's advise if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or are breastfeeding. Inform your doctor if you are taking any medicine, or have heart or liver problems. Consult your doctor immediately if you notice any changes in your behaviour (increased suicidal thoughts) after taking the medicine.

Allergy

Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO)

Monoamine oxidase inhibitors are a class of medicine us for the treatment of depression. Topdep 10 MG Tablet is not recommended for use along with Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs) as it increases the risk of serotonin syndrome (increase level of serotonin in your body).

Pregnancy

Topdep 10 MG Tablet is not recommended for use during pregnancy unless necessary. The medicine remains for a long time in the body and the side effects of this medicine will be seen on your baby too. The risk is especially high if you are taking this medicine in the third trimester. Your doctor will monitor your baby clinically if you have been taking this medicine during pregnancy.

Breast-feeding

Topdep 10 MG Tablet is not recommended in breastfeeding women unless necessary as it is known to be present in breastmilk. It may cause side effects in your baby. If your doctor prescribes the medicine, you should closely monitor for any behavioural changes like drowsiness or fussiness in your baby.
General warnings

Suicidal thoughts

Topdep 10 MG Tablet is used to treat depression but at times it may lead to mood swings and worsening of the condition. This may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviour. Hence, use Topdep 10 MG Tablet with caution, especially during the initial phase of treatment or during dose alterations. It is important that your family members keep a close watch for any such symptoms. Consult your doctor immediately if these symptoms appear.

Abnormal bleeding

Topdep 10 MG Tablet may alter platelet function and prolong the bleeding time. Inform your doctor if you are using medicines containing NSAIDs, Aspirin, or Warfarin as it may increase the risk of bleeding. Inform your doctor if you experience any unusual bleeding. Your blood count and prothrombin time need to be closely monitored while you are taking this medicine.

Weight loss

Topdep 10 MG Tablet may alter body weight and cause significant weight loss. Closely monitor your body weight while you are on this medication.

Impaired kidney function

Topdep 10 MG Tablet has to be used with caution if you have severe kidney damage. Your doctor may adjust the dose based on your condition.

Paediatric use

Topdep 10 MG Tablet is not recommended for use in children less than 18 years of age.

Ability to drive or operate machines

Use of Topdep 10 MG Tablet may reduce the ability to make judgments and react immediately in an emergency. Therefore, you should take caution while driving or operating a machine.

Missed Dose

If you forget to take a dose of Topdep 10 MG Tablet, take it as soon as you remember. If it’s almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed dose.

Overdose

Never take more than the prescribed dose. Overdose with Topdep 10 MG Tablet can lead to irregular heartbeat and seizures. Seek emergency medical treatment or contact the doctor if you notice any symptoms of overdose like dizziness and loss of consciousness.
