Simethicone

Description

Simethicone is an anti-flatulent medicine. It is used to reduce excessive gas in the stomach and relieve the symptoms like stomach discomfort, abdominal pain, fullness, and bloating/flatulence (accumulation of gas in the stomach). This medicine works by reducing stomach discomfort by expelling gas. Simethicone shows some common side effects like nausea and constipation. These side effects subside by themselves. Consult your doctor if any of these symptoms bother you for a long time or worsen. Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to it. Simethicone is available as a tablet, chewable tablet, capsule, disintegrating strip, drops, emulsion, oral suspension, and syrup. It is usually taken after a meal before bedtime. Tablets and capsules are swallowed as a whole with an adequate amount of water. Chewable tablets/disintegration strips are to be placed in your mouth. Oral solutions are measured exactly in a dropper or measuring spoon before swallowing. Do not take more than the prescribed dose. Simethicone may not be suitable for all people. Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems and about all your ongoing medicines. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before taking this medicine.
