Description
Revilife 50 mg Tablet is an antidepressant medicine that contains Fluvoxamine. It is used in the treatment of depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder (also known as OCD, it is a mental condition in which the person has re-occurring and uncontrollable thoughts, causing an urge to perform some tasks over and over again). Revilife 50 mg Tablet works by increasing the level of a chemical substance in the brain and helps to relieve the symptoms of depression and OCD. Revilife 50 mg Tablet may cause side effects like nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, difficulty in sleeping, and fatigue. Consult your doctor if these side effects persist for a longer duration or worsen. It may also cause dizziness or sleepiness. Hence, avoid performing activities that require mental alertness, such as driving vehicles or operating machines. Avoid taking this medicine if you are allergic to it. Revilife 50 mg Tablet is a prescription medicine. It may be taken with or without food as directed by your doctor. Avoid taking more or less than the recommended dose. Do not stop taking this medicine on your own even if you feel well, as it may revert your symptoms. Sudden discontinuation of this medicine may also cause unpleasant symptoms such as agitation, confusion, tingling or electric shock feelings, etc. Hence, consult your doctor before stopping the medicine. Do not share your medicine with others even if their symptoms appear similar to yours. Revilife 50 mg Tablet is not recommended for use in children below 18 years of age for the treatment of depression. Use this medicine with caution if you have seizures (fits) or liver problems. Inform your doctor if you are taking any other medications before starting the treatment with Revilife 50 mg Tablet to avoid undesired effects. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or are breastfeeding.

Allergy

Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI)

Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) are a class of medicines used to treat depression. Revilife 50 mg Tablet is not recommended for use during treatment with MAOIs (Rasagiline, Selegiline, etc.) as it may cause serotonin syndrome. Serotonin syndrome is a life-threatening condition characterised by hallucination, high heart rate, high blood pressure, dizziness, excessive sweating, high fever, seizures, vomiting, diarrhoea, etc. After stopping the treatment with MAOIs, a time gap of at least 14 days should be maintained before starting the treatment with Revilife 50 mg Tablet.

Pregnancy

Revilife 50 mg Tablet is not recommended for use during pregnancy as it may harm your foetus. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant.

Breast-feeding

Revilife 50 mg Tablet passes into the breastmilk in small quantities. This medicine is not recommended for use if you are breastfeeding.
General warnings

Suicidal thoughts

Revilife 50 mg Tablet should be used with caution due to the increased risk of suicidal thoughts and behavioural changes. Consult your doctor immediately if you experience any change in behaviour or suicidal thoughts.

Driving or operating machines

Revilife 50 mg Tablet may cause dizziness and sleepiness. Hence, avoid driving vehicles or operating machines if you experience these symptoms.

Changes in weight

Revilife 50 mg Tablet may cause changes in appetite or weight. Inform your doctor if you experience any significant changes in your body weight. Children and adolescents should have height and weight monitored periodically during treatment with this medicine.

Use in children

Revilife 50 mg Tablet is not recommended for use in children below 18 years of age for the treatment of depression and in children below 8 years of age for the treatment of obsessive-compulsive behaviour.

Discontinuation of treatment

Revilife 50 mg Tablet should not be discontinued suddenly as it may result in withdrawal symptoms such as headache, weakness, fatigue, sleep disturbances, irritability, confusion, palpitation, etc. Gradual dose reduction should be done over a period under your doctor's supervision.

Hyponatraemia

Revilife 50 mg Tablet may cause hyponatraemia in some cases. This risk is especially high in the elderly and in people who are volume-depleted (low extracellular fluid in the body) or taking diuretics (medicines that increase water and salt excretion from the body). Blood pressure and sodium levels will be closely monitored by the doctor in such cases.

Missed Dose

Take the missed dose of Revilife 50 mg Tablet as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume at the scheduled time. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed dose.

Seek emergency medical treatment if you suspect an overdose of Revilife 50 mg Tablet.
