Psoricort C 0.05% Gel is topical medicine used to treat skin conditions such as eczema (a skin condition in which skin becomes dry, itchy, red, and bumpy), dermatitis (skin irritation), psoriasis (a skin condition that occurs due to abnormal immune activity and causes dry, itchy, and scaly skin due to buildup of skin cells), etc. This medicine works by decreasing the production of certain chemicals in your body. Thus, it reduces redness and swelling on your skin. Psoricort C 0.05% Gel may cause side effects like burning sensation, itching, and redness at the site of application. These symptoms may last only for a few days and disappear with time as your body adjusts to the medicine. Inform your doctor if these side effects persist or become worse. Psoricort C 0.05% Gel is meant for external use only. Clean the affected area and pat dry before applying Psoricort C 0.05% Gel. Apply a thin layer of the gel to the affected area and spread evenly. Avoid direct contact with your eyes and mouth. Wash your eyes and mouth immediately in case of accidental contact. Avoid using this medicine for more than the recommended duration. Prolonged use of a high dose of Psoricort C 0.05% Gel may get absorbed into the bloodstream and suppress the activity of your immune system. Hence, this medicine should be used with caution as it may increase the risk of infections or worsen your condition if you have an infection.

Hyperadrenocorticism

Hyperadrenocorticism is a condition that occurs due to high levels of cortisol (a chemical substance that helps your body respond to stress, regulate blood sugar, and fight infections) in the body. Psoricort C 0.05% Gel should be used with caution as it may occasionally cause or worsen hyperadrenocorticism if applied over a large area for a prolonged time.

Ocular Toxicities

Rarely, Psoricort C 0.05% Gel may increase the intraocular pressure (high pressure inside the eye caused by an imbalance in the production and drainage of fluid in the eye) and cause glaucoma (a condition where the pressure within the eyeballs is abnormally high that can damage the optic nerve and lead to loss of vision).
