Description
Pacitane 2 MG Tablet is an antispasmodic medicine that is used in the treatment of Parkinson's disease (a progressive nervous system disorder that affects movement). It is also used to treat extrapyramidal symptoms (extreme restlessness or involuntary muscle spasm) caused by certain medicines. This medicine works by improving muscle control and reducing stiffness, thus making it easier to move. Pacitane 2 MG Tablet can cause side effects like headache, constipation, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, etc. Consult your doctor if these side effects are getting persistent or worsening. Avoid activities like driving vehicles or operating machines as this medicine can make you dizzy. Pacitane 2 MG Tablet can be taken with food to avoid stomach irritation. Take it at the same time every day to maintain a constant level of medicine in your body. Do not stop taking this medicine without consulting your doctor, as your symptoms may reoccur or worsen. Allergy

Narrow angle glaucoma

Narrow-angle glaucoma is a condition in which pressure inside your eyes increases. It occurs due to fluid build-up within the eyes caused by blocked drainage canals. Pacitane 2 MG Tablet is not recommended if you have narrow-angle glaucoma, as it may increase the risk of mydriasis (a condition in which the pupil of the eye gets dilated due to increased eye pressure).

Pacitane 2 MG Tablet is not recommended during pregnancy unless absolutely necessary. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant.

Breast-feeding

It is not known whether Pacitane 2 MG Tablet passes into the breastmilk. Hence, it is not recommended for use while breastfeeding.
General warnings

Neuroleptic malignant syndrome

Neuroleptic malignant syndrome is a rare life-threatening condition characterised by fever, an abnormally high body temperature, muscle rigidity, altered mental status, irregular pulse or blood pressure, etc. Pacitane 2 MG Tablet should be used with extreme caution if you have a history of a neuroleptic malignant syndrome as it can trigger or aggravate symptoms like high fever and muscle stiffness.

Infectious diarrhoea

Pacitane 2 MG Tablet should be used with caution if you have infections diarrhoea, particularly if followed by high fever and pus/blood in the stool. This medicine may prolong and worsen diarrhoea.

Psychotic symptoms

Pacitane 2 MG Tablet may cause psychotic symptoms like confusion, delusions, and hallucination. It should be used with caution in the elderly due to an increase in the risk of these symptoms.

Hypertension

Hypertension refers to high blood pressure. Pacitane 2 MG Tablet should be used with caution if you have hypertension, as it may further cause an increase in blood pressure. Monitor your blood pressure regularly while you are taking this medicine.

Withdrawal effect

Pacitane 2 MG Tablet should not be discontinued abruptly as it may cause withdrawal symptoms such as a headache, anxiety, seizures (abnormal behaviour and uncontrolled movements of the body), etc. Your doctor may suggest an appropriate regimen to gradually stop the treatment.

Use in children

Pacitane 2 MG Tablet is not recommended for use in children below 18 years of age as the safety and efficacy data are not clinically established.

Driving or operating machines

Pacitane 2 MG Tablet may cause blurred vision and dizziness in some cases. Hence, avoid performing activities that require high mental alertness, such as driving vehicles or operating machines, if you experience such symptoms.

Missed Dose

Take the missed dose of Pacitane 2 MG Tablet as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed dose.

Overdose

Avoid taking more than the recommended dose. Seek emergency medical treatment in case of an overdose of Pacitane 2 MG Tablet.

Gastrointestinal blockage

Gastrointestinal obstruction is a partial or complete blockage of the intestine that prevents food or liquid from passing through it. Pacitane 2 MG Tablet should be used with caution in case of gastrointestinal obstruction. This medicine can reduce muscle mobility and cause delayed emptying of food from the digestive tract. Thus it may further worsen your condition.

Urinary tract obstruction

Obstructive uropathy is a disorder of the urinary tract. It leads to obstruction in normal urinary flow, causing retention of urine in the urinary bladder (an organ that stores urine). Pacitane 2 MG Tablet should be used with caution if you have partial obstructive uropathy, as it may further aggravate your condition.

Tardive Dyskinesia

Tardive dyskinesia is a neurological condition with repetitive, involuntary body movements. Pacitane 2 MG Tablet should be used with extreme caution if you have tardive dyskinesia, as it may further worsen your condition.
