Description
Novazide-S Injection is a combination medicine used to treat infections of the brain, lungs, skin, blood, urinary tract, abdomen, bones, joints, etc. caused by bacteria. This medicine should be used with caution in patients with kidney diseases due to the increased risk of severe adverse effects.

Hypersensitivity reactions

Drug-resistance

Clostridium difficile-associated Diarrhea

This medicine may cause an imbalance in the microbial flora of the large intestine, decreasing the gut-friendly bacteria and promoting the growth of a bacteria called Clostridium difficile, resulting in severe diarrhea.

Neurotoxicity

This medicine may increase the risk of serious adverse effects such as encephalopathy, seizures, and nonconvulsive status epilepticus. These reactions may occur in patients with an impaired kidney function if the dose of this medicine is not adjusted appropriately. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition of the patient.

How it works
Ceftazidime works by stopping the growth of bacteria. Sulbactam inhibits some chemicals produced by the bacteria and makes the bacteria more sensitive to ceftazidime activity. Thus, the combination becomes effective against an extended range of bacteria.
