Description
Normace 2.5 MG Tablet is used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) and certain other heart conditions. It may also be used to prevent and reduce the risk of a heart attack. This medicine works by relaxing the blood vessels and promoting a smooth flow of blood. Normace 2.5 MG Tablet has some side effects like headache, cough, diarrhoea, stomach pain and nausea. Avoid driving vehicles or operating machines and rise slowly from a sitting or lying down position if you feel dizzy while on treatment with Normace 2.5 MG Tablet. Let your doctor know about any cough or throat irritation that does not go away. Avoid taking this medicine if you are allergic to it. Normace 2.5 MG Tablet intake should not be stopped suddenly as it can cause your blood pressure to rise, thereby increasing the risk of heart attack and stroke. This is a widely used medicine and is considered safe for long-term use. Normace 2.5 MG Tablet is safe for you only when the entire medical and medication history (especially the use of Aliskiren) is shared with your doctor. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or are breastfeeding before taking Normace 2.5 MG Tablet.

Allergy

Avoid taking Normace 2.5 MG Tablet if you are allergic to it. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms such as skin rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, breathing difficulty, etc.

Aliskiren

Aliskiren is a medicine used to reduce blood pressure. Do not use Normace 2.5 MG Tablet if you are taking aliskiren. Concomitant use of these medicines may lead to serious side effects such as low blood pressure, and high potassium levels in your blood. The risk is higher if you have a kidney problem or diabetes (high blood sugar level).

Angioedema

Angioedema is an allergic condition in which there is painless swelling under the skin mostly seen around the face and lips. Normace 2.5 MG Tablet is not recommended for use if you have a known history of angioedema or hereditary angioedema (recurrent episodes of severe swelling), as it may worsen your condition.

General warnings

Cough

Normace 2.5 MG Tablet may cause a persistent, nonproductive cough that is usually resolved once the medicine is discontinued.

Driving or operating machines

Normace 2.5 MG Tablet may affect your driving ability as it can lead to dizziness or weakness due to low blood pressure. After taking this medication, avoid performing any activities that require high mental alertness such as driving a vehicle or operating a machine.

Use in elderly

Normace 2.5 MG Tablet should be used with extreme caution in the elderly above 65 years of age due to the increased risk of side effects. Hence consult your doctor for further guidance.

Use in children

Normace 2.5 MG Tablet is not recommended in children less than 18 years due to a lack of data on safety and efficacy.

Missed Dose

Do not miss the dose of Normace 2.5 MG Tablet. In case you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for the next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.

Overdose

Do not take more than the recommended dose of Normace 2.5 MG Tablet. Seek emergency medical treatment in case of an overdose.

Bone marrow suppression

Bone marrow suppression is a condition in which your bone marrow (a substance found in the bone that produces blood cells) activity is reduced which further leads to a decrease in blood cell count. If you are diagnosed with such a condition, take Normace 2.5 MG Tablet with caution. This medicine causes bone marrow suppression and the risk is high if you have kidney impairment.

Impaired liver function

Normace 2.5 MG Tablet should be used with caution if you have liver problems due to the increased risk of serious side effects. Your doctor may adjust the dose of this medicine or replace this medicine with a suitable alternative based on your clinical condition.

Hyperkalemia

Hyperkalemia is an increase in the potassium levels in your blood. Normace 2.5 MG Tablet may significantly cause hyperkalemia. This may cause serious adverse effects such as irregular heartbeats. Report any unusual symptoms to the doctor immediately. It is advised to avoid potassium-rich foods (potatoes, bananas) and other medicines that may increase potassium levels (potassium-sparing diuretics and potassium supplements) during treatment with this medicine. Appropriate corrective measures, dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on your clinical condition.

Impaired kidney function

Normace 2.5 MG Tablet should be used with caution if you have a history of kidney diseases. This medicine is excreted via the kidney and may accumulate in your body if there is kidney impairment.

Hypotension

Hypotension is a decrease in blood pressure. Normace 2.5 MG Tablet may cause hypotension, especially when used in combination with other high blood pressure medicines, and if you are having low sodium levels in your blood. During therapy with this medication, you should check your blood pressure regularly. Depending on your clinical condition, your doctor may make appropriate dose changes.
