Description
Lincocin 300 mg Injection is an antibiotic medicine containing Lincomycin. It is used to treat bacterial infections of the lungs, skin, bones, joints, stomach, and intestine. It is also used in post-surgical conditions to avoid infections at surgical wounds. This medicine stops the growth of bacteria that causes infection. Lincocin 300 mg Injection is not effective against infections caused by viruses. Lincocin 300 mg Injection may show some common side effects that include diarrhoea, pain at the injection site, rashes, nausea and vomiting. Do not use this medicine if you are previously allergic to it. Contact your doctor if any of these symptoms are seen for a longer period of time. It is one of the effective antibiotics given to children and adults. Lincocin 300 mg Injection is given into your vein or muscle by your doctor in a hospital or clinic. Hence, do not self administer. Your doctor will determine the dose you need each day and how often the injections should be given. Once an antibiotic is started, it is always recommended to finish the entire course of the treatment. Lincocin 300 mg Injection should be used with caution if you have gastrointestinal problems, particularly colitis (swelling of the inner lining of the colon) as it may cause severe diarrhoea making your condition worse. Inform your doctor if you have kidney or liver problems before receiving this medicine. Also, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before initiating the treatment.

Diarrhoea

Lincocin 300 mg Injection can cause diarrhoea as a side effect, because it may kill the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine. Consult your doctor if you experience watery stools for more than seven days.

Gasping syndrome

Benzyl alcohol which is an ingredient of the Lincocin 300 mg Injection has been associated with gasping Syndrome in children, which is characterized by multi-system failure. The risk depends on the quantity administered and the liver function. Premature and low-birth-weight infants are at higher risk of developing the gasping syndrome.

Antibiotic resistance

Finish the entire course of treatment with Lincocin 300 mg Injection, even if your condition improves. Abrupt stopping of antibiotic treatment may not kill all the bacteria and the remaining bacteria may become resistant to the antibiotic.

Allergic reactions

Lincocin 300 mg Injection may cause hypersensitivity skin reactions characterised by rash, peeling of the skin, swelling of your face or tongue, skin blisters in or around your nose, mouth, and eyes. Discontinue this medicine if these symptoms appear.
