Description
Hytrin 2 mg Tablet is an antihypertensive medicine which is used to treat high blood pressure and relieve symptoms of Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy (prostate enlargement) such as painful urination or urinary urgency. This medicine should be used with caution since it may cause temporary loss of consciousness due to the sudden decrease in blood pressure (syncope). This medicine is not recommended for use in children.

General warnings

Syncope

This medicine should be used with caution due to the increased risk of temporary loss of consciousness caused by a sudden decrease in the blood pressure. Close monitoring of blood pressure may be necessary based on the clinical condition of the patient.

CNS effects

Hytrin 2 mg Tablet may cause drowsiness and it may affect your thinking and judgment. Hence, it is advised that you do not perform any activities that require high mental alertness like driving a vehicle or operating heavy machinery, especially for 12 hours after the first dose or after increasing the dose of this medicine.

Renal failure

Hytrin 2 mg Tablet is not recommended for use in patients with bladder overflow, anuria, or advanced renal failure due to the increased risk of serious adverse effects.

Cardiac disorders

Caution is advised while using this medicine in patients with cardiac failure or pulmonary edema due to the increased risk of severe adverse effects.

Use in pediatrics

This medicine is not recommended for use in children.

Missed Dose

If a dose of Hytrin 2 mg Tablet is missed, take the dose as soon as you remember it. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed one.

How it works
This medicine works by relaxing the blood vessels. This allows the blood to flow smoothly and decreases the blood pressure. It also relaxes the muscles of the prostate gland and relieves the symptoms of patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
