Description
Fluvoxin 100 mg Tablet CR is a medicine used to treat depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder (also known as OCD, it is a mental condition in which the person has repetitive thoughts that do not go away, causing the need to perform certain actions over and over again). It works by increasing the levels of a chemical substance in the brain and helps to relieve the symptoms of depression and OCD. Fluvoxin 100 mg Tablet CR show side effects like nausea, indigestion, loss of appetite, excessive sweating, difficulty in sleeping, decreased sexual drive, etc. Consult your doctor if these side effects persist or become severe. It may also cause dizziness and drowsiness. Avoid driving vehicles or operating machines if you feel dizzy or drowsy after taking this medicine. Avoid taking this medicine if you are allergic to it. Fluvoxin 100 mg Tablet CR may be taken with or without food. Your doctor will prescribe the dose and duration of this medicine based on the type and severity of your medical condition. Your doctor may start you on a lower dose and increase it gradually. Avoid changing the dose or stop taking it on your own, even if you feel well. Doing so may make your condition worse or you may experience withdrawal symptoms (anxiety, restlessness, dizziness, sleep disturbances, confusion, agitation, etc.). Fluvoxin 100 mg Tablet CR should be used with caution if you have seizures (fits) or liver problems. Allergy

After stopping the treatment with MAOIs, a time gap of at least 14 days should be maintained before starting the treatment with Fluvoxin 100 mg Tablet CR.

Pregnancy

Breast-feeding

Fluvoxin 100 mg Tablet CR passes into the breastmilk. Hence, it is not recommended for use if you are breastfeeding.
General warnings

Suicidal thoughts

Fluvoxin 100 mg Tablet CR may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts and changes in behaviour. If you experience changes in behaviour or develop suicidal thoughts, report to your doctor immediately.

Changes in weight

Fluvoxin 100 mg Tablet CR may cause a decrease in appetite and weight change. Inform your doctor if you experience any significant changes in your body weight.

Low sodium levels

Fluvoxin 100 mg Tablet CR may cause hyponatraemia (low sodium levels in the blood) in some cases. This risk is especially high in the elderly, or if you are volume-depleted (low extracellular fluid in the body) or taking diuretics (medicines that increase water and salt excretion from the body). Your blood pressure and sodium levels will be closely monitored by your doctor in such cases.

Seizures

Seizure is an abnormal and uncontrolled electrical activity in the brain causing uncontrolled jerking of the body. Fluvoxin 100 mg Tablet CR should be used with caution if you have seizures as this medicine may further trigger a seizure attack.

Withdrawal symptoms

Fluvoxin 100 mg Tablet CR should not be discontinued abruptly, as it may cause withdrawal symptoms like dizziness, sleep disturbances, irritability, confusion, palpitation, etc. Do not stop the use of this medicine without consulting your doctor. Gradual dose reduction should be done over a period under your doctor's supervision.

Driving or operating machines

Missed Dose
