Flupirtine

Description

Flupirtine is a painkiller used to treat muscle pain, headache, nerve pain, post-surgery pain, etc. It works by inhibiting the transmission of pain signals and thereby provides pain relief. Flupirtine may cause common side effects such as nausea, dryness in the mouth, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, heartburn, etc. Consult your doctor if these symptoms persist for a long time or if they become severe. Flupirtine should be taken exactly as advised by your doctor. Take it at the same time every day to maintain a constant level of this medicine in the body. Do not skip a dose or discontinue the treatment without consulting your doctor. Flupirtine is not recommended if you are allergic to it, or have liver problems. Inform your doctor if you have kidney problems, any other medical conditions, or are taking any other medicines. This medicine is not recommended in children below 18 years of age. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or are breastfeeding.

Allergy

Myasthenia gravis

Myasthenia gravis is a long-term condition that leads to weakness of skeletal muscles, the muscles responsible for movement. Common symptoms include weakness in hands and legs, difficulty in speaking and swallowing, fatigue, shortness of breath, etc. Flupirtine is not recommended as the muscle relaxant effect of this medicine may worsen your condition.

Hepatic encephalopathy

Hepatic encephalopathy is a condition of brain damage caused by impaired liver function. Flupirtine is not recommended as it may worsen your condition.

Cholestasis (Obstruction of bile duct)

Cholestasis is a liver problem that occurs when the flow of bile from your liver is reduced/blocked. Impaired liver function may result in accumulation of Flupirtine and may worsen your condition. Hence, the use of this medicine is not recommended.

Liver Disease

Impaired liver function may result in accumulation of Flupirtine and may lead to worsening of your condition. Hence, the use of this medication is not recommended.

Flupirtine should be used with caution if you have any kidney problems due to the increased risk of side effects. Your doctor may recommend tests to monitor your kidney function and recommend appropriate dose adjustments.

Missed Dose
