Description
Floxur TZ Tablet is a combination medicine which may be used to treat a variety of conditions such as bronchitis, pneumonia, gonococcal infection, and infections in the stomach, genital areas, etc. This medicine is not recommended for use in patients less than 18 years of age.

Allergy

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known allergy to ofloxacin, tinidazole, other fluoroquinolones, other nitroimidazoles, or any other inactive ingredients present in the formulation.

Tendinitis or tendon rupture

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a history of tendon rupture or tendinitis (a condition in which the tissue connecting muscle to the bone becomes inflamed) since it may worsen the patient's condition.

Myasthenia gravis

This medicine is not recommended for use if you have a past history or family history of Myasthenia Gravis (weakness and rapid fatigue of muscles under voluntary control) due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition.

Breast-feeding

This medicine is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless necessary. All the risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before taking this medicine. If the medicine is used, the infant should be monitored closely for any adverse effects.
General warnings

Tendinitis and Tendon ruputure

Use of this medicine will increase the risk to develop tendinitis or tendon rupture during the treatment or several months after treatment. It will affect the shoulder, hand, the back of your ankle, or other parts of your body. The risk is more if you are above 60 years of age and have a history of kidney, heart, or lung transplant and joint disease. You are also at high risk if you are on corticosteroids like dexamethasone, methylprednisolone or prednisone.

Drug-resistance

Usage of this medicine without sufficient proof or suspicion of a bacterial infection should be avoided. Irrational dosing might fail in providing the benefits and even cause toxicity. It may also increase the risk of development of bacteria that are drug resistant.

Driving or Operating machinery

Use of this medicine may cause symptoms such as blurred vision, confusion, dizziness, etc. in some patients. It is advised that you do not perform any activities such as driving a vehicle or operating machinery if you experience any of these symptoms during treatment with this medicine.

Photosensitivity

Use of this medicine may make you more sensitive to sunlight or tanning lights. You are advised to use sunscreen and wear protective clothing to avoid adverse reactions to sunlight during treatment with this medicine.

Blood cell count

Use of this medicine may lower the blood cell count and may lead to leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, and bone marrow aplasia. Close monitoring of WBC count, platelets is necessary. Discontinue the treatment if any signs of low blood cell count appear.

Neurologic Toxicity

Use of this medicine may cause neurological effects like convulsions and peripheral neuropathy. Inform the doctor if you have any neurological problems. Any symptoms of convulsions, tingling or burning sensation of hands and feet should be reported to the doctor.

Liver Disease

Use of this medicine may cause liver injury. The baseline of liver enzymes should be obtained before initiating the therapy. Any signs of elevation in the liver enzymes should be informed to the doctor. Discontinue the treatment until the levels reach to normal range.

Use in Children

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients below 18 years of age since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established.

Missed Dose

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.

Central nervous system disorders

This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients with a history of seizure disorder and other central nervous system abnormalities since it may worsen the patient's condition. Report any incidence of tremors, restlessness, anxiety, confusion, hallucinations, etc., to the doctor on priority. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition.

Colitis

This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients having a history of gastrointestinal diseases, particularly colitis, since it may worsen the patient's condition. Report any incidence of severe diarrhea, abdominal pain, blood in stools, etc. to the doctor immediately. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition.

QT Prolongation

This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients with a history of QT prolongation due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition. This risk is especially higher in patients with heart diseases or electrolyte disturbances and elderly patients. Report any incidence of discomfort in the chest, heart palpitations, etc., to the doctor on priority. How it works
Ofloxacin works by inhibiting an enzyme required for the bacterial DNA to replicate. This blocks the multiplication and growth and results in the eventual death of the bacteria. Tinidazole works by inhibiting the growth of bacteria and protozoa by interfering with its DNA synthesis.
