Description
Efimox 775 mg Tablet ER is a penicillin-type antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections of throat and tonsils in adults and children 12 years of age or above. This tablet stops the growth of bacteria causing the infection. It is not effective against infections caused by viruses. Side effects of Efimox 775 mg Tablet ER are diarrhoea, stomach pain, headache, weakness, nausea, and vomiting. Inform your doctor if you are allergic to penicillin. Use it cautiously in individuals with kidney problems. You can take Efimox 775 mg Tablet ER with or without food. For the ease of remembering, take amoxicillin tablet ER around the same time every day. Once an antibiotic is started, it is always recommended to finish the entire course of treatment. For the best results, take this antibiotic at evenly spaced times.

General warnings

Antibiotic resistance

Finish your entire course of treatment with Efimox 775 mg Tablet ER, even if the condition gets better to avoid antibiotic resistance (the bacteria may become resistant to antibiotics). If you still feel unwell after completing your antibiotic course, make an appointment to consult your doctor.

Diarrhoea

Efimox 775 mg Tablet ER can cause diarrhoea because it may also kill the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine. Get emergency medical help if you experience severe diarrhoea that is watery or bloody. Call your pharmacist/doctor before taking anti-diarrhoeal medication.

Driving or operating machinery

Mononucleosis

Mononucleosis is also called as kissing disease is an infection caused by Epstein-Barr virus. It is spread through saliva. People with mononucleosis may develop a maculopapular skin rash (flat and small raised bumps on the skin) after 5-10 days of treatment with Efimox 775 mg Tablet ER and resolves within days of discontinuing the use. Efimox 775 mg Tablet ER may not be appropriate medicine in patients with mononucleosis.

Colitis

Efimox 775 mg Tablet ER can kill the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine and leads to diarrhoea. Therefore use Efimox 775 mg Tablet ER with extreme caution in patients with gastrointestinal (mouth to anus) diseases, particularly colitis (swelling of the inner lining of the colon), since it may worsen the patient's condition.

Efimox 775 mg Tablet ER is filtered by the kidney and moved out of the body through urine. Patients with kidney diseases need special consideration while taking Efimox 775 mg Tablet ER due to the risk of kidney damage. Dose adjustment should be done based on the clinical condition.

Efimox 775 mg Tablet ER is moved out from the body via urine.
