Description
Dygesic MR Tablet is a combination medicine that consists of diclofenac, paracetamol and chlorzoxazone. It is used for the treatment of pain, swelling, and tenderness associated with muscle injury and muscle spasms. It is also used to treat pain and swelling in post-surgical patients. This medicine blocks the release of certain chemicals that cause pain and swelling and blocks the pain impulse from the affected site to the brain, thus relieving pain and swelling effectively. Dygesic MR Tablet shows common side effects like nausea, vomiting, stomach pain and diarrhoea. If any of these effects persist for a long time or worsen, consult your doctor at the earliest. Dygesic MR Tablet should be taken with food to avoid stomach irritation. You must follow the dosage instructed by the doctor. Appropriate physical therapy and rest are necessary along with this medicine to get better results. Dygesic MR Tablet may interact with other medications. Inform your doctor about any health conditions that you have and also about all the medications that you are taking. Also inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or a breastfeeding mother.

Allergy

Peptic ulcer

Coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG)

Coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) is a surgical procedure that diverts the heart's blood vessels from narrowed or blocked vessels to improve the blood supply of the heart muscle. Dygesic MR Tablet is not recommended for use before, during, or after a coronary artery bypass graft surgery as it may cause heart failure.

Kidney diseases

Dygesic MR Tablet is excreted through your kidneys. If you have pre-existing kidney problems, using this medicine will worsen your condition further.

Severe liver disease

Dygesic MR Tablet is broken down and absorbed. in the liver. If you have liver problems, accumulation of this medicine may take place in the liver leading to worsening of compromised liver and other undesirable effects.

Gastrointestinal bleeding

Dygesic MR Tablet may damage the stomach and intestinal lining and increase the risk of bleeding. This medicine is not recommended for use if you have a known history of gastrointestinal bleeding.

Stomach and intestinal toxicity

Dygesic MR Tablet may cause damage to the stomach, intestines, liver, etc., especially on prolonged use. This risk is especially higher if you have a history of stomach and intestinal problems. Talk to your doctor about the signs that you should look out for, like chronic indigestion, blood in stool or vomit, etc., while taking this medicine. Inform him immediately if you come across these symptoms.

Skin allergies

Dygesic MR Tablet may cause serious skin allergies without any warning. If you experience any symptoms such as rashes, hives (painful eruptions that sting), or any other allergic symptoms inform your doctor without any delay.

Fluid retention and oedema

Dygesic MR Tablet may cause fluid retention and oedema (swelling of the tissue due to trapped fluid beneath the skin, majorly in lower limbs). Your doctor will suggest tests to monitor your blood pressure, electrolyte levels, and heart function.

Chronic malnutrition

Dygesic MR Tablet may suppress the absorption of nutrients from the stomach. Take this tablet with caution if you are malnourished. Your condition will be closely monitored by your doctor.

Driving or operating machinery

Dygesic MR Tablet may cause dizziness, fainting, and drowsiness. It is advised that you do not perform any activities that require high mental alertness like driving vehicles or operating machines if you experience any of these symptoms during treatment with this medicine.

Missed Dose

If you forget to take a dose of Dygesic MR Tablet take it as soon as you remember. Do not add it with your next dose to make up for a missed dose.

Overdose

NSAID-induced asthma

NSAID-induced asthma is an allergic condition of the respiratory system caused by the use of NSAIDs (Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like aspirin). In this, there is a narrowing and excess mucous secretion in the airway of your lungs leading to severe breathing difficulty. Dygesic MR Tablet is not recommended for use in this condition.

Heart attack and stroke

Dygesic MR Tablet may cause a heart attack, stroke (death of brain cells due to the insufficient blood supply to the brain ), or other associated symptoms after prolonged use. This risk is especially higher if you have a history of heart problems or stroke. Close monitoring of heart function is recommended.

5-HIAA Urine Test

You may get a false-positive result for this test while taking Dygesic MR Tablet. It is advised that you inform the doctor and lab technician about all your current medicines before undergoing any lab tests.
Take Dygesic MR Tablet with food. Do not take in larger amounts than advised. Do not stop using this medicine without consulting your doctor. Do not self-medicate or stop on your own unless directed by your doctor. This medicine is most effective when taken along with proper rest and physical therapy. Avoid consuming alcohol when taking this medicine as it may cause excessive drowsiness and increase the risk of liver damage. Old people may have increased drowsiness, confusion, and a higher risk of falling as a result of taking this medicine. Do not crush, break or chew the Dygesic MR Tablet. Take the tablet immediately after peeling from the strip.

How it works
Dygesic MR Tablet contains Diclofenac, Paracetamol and Chlorzoxazone. Diclofenac works by reducing the formation of certain substances in the body that are responsible for causing pain and swelling. Paracetamol relieves pain by increasing the pain threshold and decreases swelling. Chlorzoxazone works on centres of the spinal cord and brain to reduce muscle spasms and improves muscle movements.
