Description
Dapsone (GSK) 100 mg Tablet is an antibacterial agent used along with other medicines (multi-drug regimen) for the treatment of all forms of leprosy, a long-term infection caused by Mycobacterium leprae or Mycobacterium lepromatosis. It may also be used to treat dermatitis herpetiformis, a chronic blistering skin condition characterized by blisters filled with watery fluid and intense itching.

Allergy

Severe anemia

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with severe anemia due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition.

Severe glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with severe glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition.

General warnings

Allergic reactions

This medicine may cause a skin rash, photosensitivity reactions, severe itching, etc. in some patients. Serious skin hypersensitivity reactions may also occur rarely including Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, maculopapular rash, exfoliative dermatitis, etc. Appropriate corrective measures, dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary in some cases based on the clinical condition.

Methemoglobinemia

This medicine should be used with caution in patients with methemoglobin reductase deficiency due to the increased risk of hemolytic anemia, a condition in which the red blood cells are destroyed. Glucose-6-phosphate deficiency

This medicine should be used with caution in patients with G6PD (Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase) deficiency due to the increased risk of hemolytic anemia, a condition in which the red blood cells are destroyed. Appropriate corrective measures, dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary in some cases based on the clinical condition. It is not recommended for use in patients with severe glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency.

Missed Dose

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next scheduled dose then the missed dose should be skipped.
