Description

Cyclosym-ET Tablet is a combination medicine used for the treatment of abnormal menstrual bleeding, postoperative hemorrhage (excessive bleeding after a surgical procedure), and local fibrinolysis (abnormal breakdown of blood clots). This medicine is not recommended for use in patients less than 18 years of age.

Subarachnoid hemorrhage

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients suffering from a subarachnoid hemorrhage (a life-threatening bleeding in the area between the brain and its outer covering) due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition.

Obstructive blood clotting disorder

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients suffering from obstructive clotting disorders as well as patients at risk of suffering from a clotting disorder due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition.

Porphyria

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients suffering from porphyria, a rare genetic disorder of the blood, due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition.

Fibroids

This medicine is not recommended for use in women suffering from non-cancerous tumors in the womb (fibroids) due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition.

Pregnancy

This medicine is not recommended for use in pregnant women. However, your physician may prescribe this medicine based on your clinical condition.

Breast-feeding

This medicine is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. However, your physician may prescribe this medicine based on your clinical condition.
General warnings

Use of hormonal contraceptives

This medicine is not recommended for use in women who are using hormonal contraceptives (pills, patches, vaginal rings, or injections) since the risk of severe adverse effects is significantly high.

Clotting disorders

This medicine is not recommended for use if you have a history of clotting disorders or have an active clotting disorder. Patients who are exposed to risk factors and are likely to develop these disorders also should not be given this medicine.

Eye disorders

This medicine is not recommended for use if you have a history of any disease where the blood vessels of the eye are obstructed due to clot formation.

Fever

This medicine may cause an increase in body temperature in some patients. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience a high fever.

Other medicines

This medicine may interact with other medicines and their interaction may cause severe adverse effects. Hence, it is advised that you report the use of all your medications including any supplements and herbs to the doctor before beginning treatment with this medicine.

Non-malignant fibroid

This medicine should not be used in patients having a non-cancerous tumor in the womb (fibroid). Suitable diagnostic tests should be performed to rule out the presence of fibroids of the womb before treatment with this medicine is initiated.

How it works
Tranexamic acid works by preventing certain enzymes that breakdown a blood clot formed in the body. Thus, the breakdown of clot is either slowed down or completely stopped. Ethamsylate acts by stabilizing the walls of the capillaries and acts on platelets to prevent leakage of blood.
