Description

Cardif Beta 10 Tablet is a combination medicine which may be used for the treatment of mild to moderate high blood pressure. Patients are advised to follow a strict exercise and diet regimen along with this medicine to get the best possible effect. This medicine is not recommended for use in patients less than 18 years of age.

Allergy

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known allergy to nitrendipine, any other calcium-channel blockers, atenolol, any other beta-blockers, or any other inactive ingredients present in the formulation.

Unstable angina

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with unstable angina due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition.

Acute myocardial infarction

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with an acute myocardial infarction due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition.

Cardiogenic shock

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients suffering from a cardiogenic shock due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition.

Heart block greater than first degree

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a heart block greater than the first degree since it may worsen the patient's condition.

Sinus Bradycardia

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with sinus bradycardia since it may worsen the patient's condition.

Uncompensated cardiac failure

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with uncompensated cardiac failure due to the increased risk of serious adverse effects.

Severe pulmonary edema

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with severe pulmonary edema due to the increased risk of serious adverse effects.

Pregnancy

General warnings

Liver Disease

This medicine should be used with caution in patients with liver impairment due to the increased risk of severe adverse effects including very low blood pressure. Close monitoring of blood pressure is recommended for such patients. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition.

Driving or operating machiry

Use of this medicine may cause blurred vision or dizziness in some patients. It is advised that you do not perform any activities such as driving a vehicle or operating machinery if you experience any of these symptoms during treatment with this medicine.

Cardiac Failure

Use of this medicine can cause heart failure and reduced blood flow in patients having a heart disease. Close monitoring of heart function is recommended for such patients. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition.

Major surgery

This medicine should be used with caution in patients who are scheduled for a major surgery. An anesthetic agent with little negative inotropic activity should be selected to minimize the effect on the heart.

Lung Diseases

This medicine should be used with caution in patients with lung diseases who do not respond to other antihypertensive medications. Start with the lowest possible dose and increase the dose based on the clinical condition. Replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases.

Hyperlipidemia

This medicine should be used with caution in patients with hyperlipidemia since it may alter the serum lipid profiles. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative should be considered under your doctor's supervision.

Sports

Athletes are advised not to indulge in certain sports while using this medicine. Archery, racing, shooting and other high-risk sports should be avoided. Sportspersons should refer to the list of medicines published by World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) which are not to be taken while participating in specific sports events.

Hyperthyroidism

This medicine should be administered with caution in patients with increased thyroid hormone levels. Abrupt withdrawal of this medicine may lead to a life-threatening condition called thyroid-storm. Frequent monitoring of thyroid hormone levels is recommended for such patients. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition.

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.

Glaucoma

Consumption of grapefruit juice is not recommended during treatment with this medicine due to the increased risk of severe side effects. These side effects may include dizziness, headache, swelling of hands and feet, fainting, etc.
Coadministration of multivitamin with minerals and this combination medicine should be avoided since it may decrease the effects of the medicine. A time gap of at least 2 hours should be maintained between the administration of multivitamin with minerals and this combination medicine to avoid their interaction.
Avoid consumption of large amounts of orange juice with this medicine since it may decrease the effectiveness of this medicine.

How it works
Atenolol relaxes the blood vessels and reduces the heart rate, promoting a smooth flow of blood. Nitrendipine relaxes the heart muscles and the blood vessels and reduces the heart rate. Their combination is thus effective in reducing the blood pressure.
