Description
Cardace H (12.5/2.5 mg) Tablet is a combination of Hydrochlorothiazide and Ramipril. This medicine is used for the treatment of high blood pressure. It works by relaxing your blood vessels, which helps your heart to pump blood easily. Therefore, this medicine also reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke. Side effects of Cardace H (12.5/2.5 mg) Tablet include cough, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, stomach upset, etc. You may also experience increased urination, which is one of the ways by which this medicine reduces blood pressure. These side effects are mostly temporary and go away on their own. Consult your doctor if these side effects are affecting your daily activities. Take Cardace H (12.5/2.5 mg) Tablet with or without food. For the ease of remembering, take this medicine around the same time every day. Appropriate lifestyle changes like a low salt and low-fat diet and regular exercise should be initiated to get the maximum benefit from the treatment. You may have to take this medicine for the long term. Avoid the discontinuation of this medicine unless your doctor tells you to stop. Allergy

Anuria

Anuria is a condition where the kidney is unable to produce urine. Cardace H (12.5/2.5 mg) Tablet is not recommended in anuria as it may worsen your condition.

Renal artery stenosis

Renal artery stenosis is a condition in which the blood vessels that carry blood to your kidneys become narrow and restrict blood flow. Cardace H (12.5/2.5 mg) Tablet is not recommended if you have renal artery stenosis as it reduces the filtration capacity of your kidneys. This increases the amount of unused medicine in your blood resulting in toxicity.

Aliskiren

Combined use of Cardace H (12.5/2.5 mg) Tablet together with Aliskiren is not recommended if you have diabetes and/or kidney impairment with CrCl less than 60 ml/min. Combined use of these medicines may increase the risk of side effects.

Angioedema

Use of Cardace H (12.5/2.5 mg) Tablet is not recommended if you have a history of angioedema (swelling in the lower layer of your skin). In such cases, you may be at an increased risk of angioedema while receiving the treatment. Consult with your doctor if you have any concerns.

General warnings

Liver disease

Cardace H (12.5/2.5 mg) Tablet should be used with extreme caution if you have liver dysfunction due to an increase in the risk of serious adverse effects. Close monitoring of liver function is necessary while taking this medicine. Report any symptoms of confusion or jaundice [yellow skin discolouration due to increased level of bilirubin (blood pigment)] to your doctor on priority.

Alteration in blood volume and electrolyte levels

Cardace H (12.5/2.5 mg) Tablet may alter the blood volume levels and electrolyte levels in your body. Close monitoring of blood pressure and electrolyte levels is necessary while taking this medicine.

Kidney diseases

Cardace H (12.5/2.5 mg) Tablet may cause azotemia (elevated levels of urea and other nitrogen compounds in the blood) if you have a history of severe kidney disease. Your doctor will closely monitor your kidney function or adjust the dose to use this medicine safely.

Hyperkalemia

Hyperkalemia refers to an increase in potassium levels in the blood. Use Cardace H (12.5/2.5 mg) Tablet with caution in such conditions as this medicine may further increase the potassium levels in your blood. Careful monitoring of your potassium levels may be necessary.

Use in children

Cardace H (12.5/2.5 mg) Tablet is not recommended for use in children and adolescents below 18 years of age since the safety and efficacy of this medicine is not clinically established.

Driving and operating a machine

Cardace H (12.5/2.5 mg) Tablet may cause dizziness and decrease in blood pressure. Avoid performing any activities that require high mental alertness like driving a vehicle or operating a machine if you experience until you know how this medicine affects you.

Hypotension

Use Cardace H (12.5/2.5 mg) Tablet with caution as it can cause symptomatic hypotension (low blood pressure), especially in conditions such as volume depletion (reduction in extracellular fluid volume that occurs due to salt and fluid losses) or if you are treated with high dose diuretics (substances that increases urine production). It is necessary to correct the condition before taking this medicine.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of Cardace H (12.5/2.5 mg) Tablet, take it as soon as you remember. However, skip the missed dose if it is already time for your next scheduled dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up for the missed dose.

Overdose

Never take more than the prescribed dose. Reach the nearest emergency medical department immediately or contact your doctor if you have accidentally or intentionally consumed more than the prescribed dose of Cardace H (12.5/2.5 mg) Tablet.
