Description
Brethmol 2 mg Tablet is a bronchodilator medicine that is used to relieve the symptoms of bronchospasm such as wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, breathing difficulties, coughing, etc., in respiratory diseases like bronchial asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It also relieves the symptoms of bronchitis where the walls of the airways swell, making breathing very difficult.

General warnings

Other diseases

Report the past/present incidence of all diseases including heart and blood vessel disorders, electrolyte imbalances, any disease associated with the thyroid and other glands, etc. to the doctor. All disease conditions should be considered before therapy with this medicine is initiated.

Hypokalemia

The use of this medicine may cause a decrease in blood potassium levels and hence, it should be administered with caution in patients suffering from hypokalemia. Report any unusual symptoms to the doctor on priority. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition.

Paradoxical bronchospasm

The use of this medicine has been associated with worsening of asthma symptoms in some instances. Contact your doctor immediately if breathing becomes more difficult after using this medicine. It is advised to discontinue this medicine immediately in such cases.

Excessive use

This medicine is strictly recommended for use in the prescribed quantities only; excessive use may cause severe adverse effects and may prove fatal in extremely rare cases.

Milk protein allergy

This medicine should not be used in patients who have a history of allergy to milk proteins.

Use in elderly

This medicine should be used with caution in the elderly as the risk of adverse effects are significantly high.
