Description
Betnovate 0.1% Cream is a topical medicine used to relieve swelling, redness, and itching of the skin caused due to various skin conditions such as dermatitis (swelling in the skin), psoriasis (a skin disease that causes red, itchy scaly patches), etc. This medicine works by preventing the release of substances that causes skin swelling, redness, and itching on your skin. Betnovate 0.1% Creamshows side effects like burning sensation, irritation, itching, or dryness at the application site. However, these side effects may occur at the initial phase and subside by themselves as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they continue to bother you. Betnovate 0.1% Cream is for external use only. Use it regularly as directed by your doctor. Wash and dry the affected area before application. Spread a thin layer of the cream over the affected area. Do not cover the affected area with bandages unless directed by your doctor. Avoid contact with your eyes, nose, or mouth. In case it comes in contact with these areas, rinse with plenty of water. Avoid the use of Betnovate 0.1% Cream for other skin conditions not prescribed by your doctor, or around the genital and rectal areas as it may worsen your condition. Betnovate 0.1% Cream is not recommended for use if you are allergic to it. If you are pregnant or are breastfeeding, consult your doctor before using this medicine. Betnovate 0.1% Cream is not recommended for use in children below one year of age. Children below 12 years of age should not use this medicine for more than five days.

Allergy

Acne

Acne is a skin condition in which bacteria grow in the clogged pores on your skin causing blackheads, whiteheads, or pimples. Betnovate 0.1% Cream is not effective against the bacteria that causes acne. Hence, it is not recommended for use in acne.

Active untreated infection

Active untreated infection occurs when a skin infection that has been left untreated for a long time develops secondary bacterial infections. The symptoms are redness, swelling, and pain at the site of infection. Betnovate 0.1% Cream is not recommended in this condition as it may worsen your skin condition. Consult your doctor for accurate treatment.

Breast-feeding

General warnings

Use in children

Betnovate 0.1% Cream is not recommended for use if your child is less than one year of age since the safety and efficacy of this medicine are not clinically established. Children below 12 years of age should not use this medicine for more than five days due to the increased risk of adrenal suppression (adrenal glands do not produce a sufficient amount of hormone cortisol).

External use only

Betnovate 0.1% Cream is recommended for external use only. Avoid contact with your eyes, mouth, wounds, or broken skin. In case of accidental contact, wash the area with warm water.

Visual Disturbance

Use Betnovate 0.1% Cream with caution as it may increase the risk of cataracts (cloudy area formed in the lens of the eye) and glaucoma (damage to the optic nerve in the eye). Contact your doctor if you experience any symptoms such as blurred vision or visual disturbances.

Missed Dose

Apply the missed dose of Betnovate 0.1% Cream as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not apply a double dose to make up for the missed dose.

Overdose

An overdose of Betnovate 0.1% Cream may cause mild side effects. However, the ingestion of this medicine may cause harm and immediate medical intervention may be required.

Apply a thin layer of Betnovate 0.1% Cream to the affected areas of your skin as instructed by your doctor. Follow all the usage instructions mentioned on the label or the package insert. Do not apply Betnovate 0.1% Cream in larger or smaller quantities than recommended. Avoid the use of Betnovate 0.1% Cream on your face unless advised by your doctor. The treatment courses should be limited to five days. Remember to wash your hands after applying the cream to the affected area.
