Description
Avoflox 400 MG Tablet is an antibiotic medicine that contains ciprofloxacin. It is used for the treatment of bacterial infections that affect your skin, joints, lungs, or urinary tract. It is effective against a large number of bacteria. It kills or prevents the growth of bacteria that causes infection. It should be used to treat bacterial infections only. It is not effective against infections caused by viruses. Avoflox 400 MG Tablet shows common side effects like diarrhoea, stomach pain, headache, weakness, nausea, and vomiting. Avoflox 400 MG Tablet can cause muscle damage, usually in your ankle. Once an antibiotic is started, it is always recommended to finish the entire course of treatment to prevent bacterial resistance. Avoflox 400 MG Tablet can be taken with or without food. For the ease of remembering, take Avoflox 400 MG Tablet around the same time every day. Take Avoflox 400 MG Tablet one-two hours before or after taking antacids as they increase the time taken by this medicine to show its effect. Take Avoflox 400 MG Tablet two hours before/after taking dairy products as they can affect its absorption and decrease its beneficial effects. Avoflox 400 MG Tablet should be avoided during pregnancy due to the risk of adverse effects on developing joints of the foetus. Avoflox 400 MG Tablet is not known to be harmful but it can pass into breast milk in small amounts, so if you are breastfeeding it is advised to consult your doctor before using it. Avoid Avoflox 400 MG Tablet if you have kidney disease or tendon issues as it can worsen your condition.

Allergy

Tendonitis or tendon rupture

Avoflox 400 MG Tablet can cause muscle damage especially in old age. Do not use Avoflox 400 MG Tablet if you have tendonitis (swelling of fibres that attach bone with muscles) or tendon rupture (a partial or complete tear of the tendon- the tissue that connects muscle to bone).

Myasthenia gravis

Myasthenia gravis is a skeletal muscle condition characterized by severe weakness of any of the muscles under your voluntary control, including the arms and legs. Avoflox 400 MG Tablet should be avoided if you have such a problem because it may worsen your condition.

Pregnancy

Avoflox 400 MG Tablet is not recommended during pregnancy due to the risk of adverse effects on developing joints of your foetus. Take Avoflox 400 MG Tablet only upon your doctor's recommendation.

General warnings

Muscle damage

Avoflox 400 MG Tablet can cause muscle damage usually on the tendons that surround your ankles. Inform your doctor if you feel pain, numbness, or tingling sensations in your muscles.

Antibiotic resistance

Finish your entire course of treatment with Avoflox 400 MG Tablet, even if the condition gets better, to avoid antibiotic resistance (a condition where the bacteria become resistant to antibiotics). If you still feel unwell after completing your antibiotic course, consult your doctor.

Diarrhoea

Avoflox 400 MG Tablet can cause diarrhoea because it may also kill the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine. Get emergency medical help if you experience severe diarrhoea that is watery or bloody. Consult your pharmacist/doctor before taking anti-diarrhoeal medication.

Driving or operating machinery

Avoflox 400 MG Tablet may cause dizziness, confusion, or disorientation. Hence, do not perform activities such as driving vehicles or operating machines if you experience any of these symptoms.

Kidney diseases

Use Avoflox 400 MG Tablet with extreme caution if you have kidney problems due to the risk of kidney damage. Your doctor may adjust the dose of this medicine based on your condition.

Other medicines

Inform the doctor about the use of all your other medications before starting treatment with Avoflox 400 MG Tablet. Avoid using Tizanidine (a muscle relaxant medicine) and caffeine-containing products while taking Avoflox 400 MG Tablet as they may interact with this medicine.

Antacids

If you are taking an antacid containing aluminium and magnesium salts for indigestion, it can increase the time it takes for Avoflox 400 MG Tablet to show its effects. It is recommended to take this antibiotic at least one hour before or two hours after taking antacids.

Missed Dose

Try not to skip a dose of Avoflox 400 MG Tablet. And if a dose is skipped, do not add it up to the next dose.

Overdose

Never take more than the prescribed dose. Seek emergency medical attention if you suspect that you might have taken an overdose of Avoflox 400 MG Tablet.

Use Avoflox 400 MG Tablet with caution if you have conditions like seizures, depression, or psychotic conditions. Avoflox 400 MG Tablet can trigger or worsen these conditions.

Gastrointestinal Diseases

Use Avoflox 400 MG Tablet with extreme caution if you have gastrointestinal diseases, particularly colitis (swelling of the inner lining of the colon), since it may worsen your condition.

QT Prolongation

Avoflox 400 MG Tablet may cause heart rhythm problems called prolonged QT intervals (an electrical heartbeat disturbance) if you are taking medications for heart conditions. It may result in fast, rapid, and irregular heartbeats.
Food interactions
Taking caffeine along with Avoflox 400 MG Tablet can increase sleeplessness, nervousness, and anxiety. Avoid coffee or medicines containing caffeine while taking Avoflox 400 MG Tablet.
Avoflox 400 MG Tablet will not show its desired effects if you take it with dairy products (milk and milk products). Maintain a gap of at least two hours between Avoflox 400 MG Tablet and dairy products.
Avoid using Avoflox 400 MG Tablet along with multivitamins with minerals. If needed it is suggested to take this medicine before four hours or after six hours of taking multivitamins with minerals.
