Description
Angibloc 50 MG Tablet ER is a heart medicine that contains Metoprolol. It is used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure), angina pectoris (chest pain caused when your heart muscle does not get enough oxygen-rich blood), and arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat). Angibloc 50 MG Tablet ER helps in preventing heart attack (a blockage of blood flow to the heart muscle) and stroke (damage to the brain from interruption of its blood supply). Angibloc 50 MG Tablet ER works by reducing the rate and force of the contractions of your heart. Thus it decreases high blood pressure. Angibloc 50 MG Tablet ER may cause side effects like headache, breathing difficulty, low blood pressure, etc. Consult your doctor if these symptoms persist for a longer time. This medicine may also cause dizziness or drowsiness. Avoid driving vehicles or operating machines after taking this medicine. Do not take Angibloc 50 MG Tablet ER if you are allergic to it. Angibloc 50 MG Tablet ER should be taken with food or immediately after food. For the ease of remembering, take this medicine around the same time every day. Do not stop taking this medicine without consulting your doctor. Angibloc 50 MG Tablet ER may interact with other medicines. Hence, inform your doctor about your complete medical history including medical conditions if any. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or are breastfeeding before taking Angibloc 50 MG Tablet ER. This medicine is not recommended for use in children below 6 years of age.

Allergy

Second or third-degree heart block

Angibloc 50 MG Tablet ER is not recommended to treat second or third-degree heart block that requires emergency attention.

Severe bradycardia

Bradycardia or slow heart rate occurs when your heart beats less than 60 times per minute. Angibloc 50 MG Tablet ER is not recommended to treat a slow heart rate.

Sports

Athletes are advised not to indulge in certain sports while using Angibloc 50 MG Tablet ER. Archery, racing, shooting, and other high-risk sports should be avoided. If you are actively involved in sports, you are advised to refer to the list of medicines published by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) that are not to be taken while participating in certain sports events.

Use in children

Angibloc 50 MG Tablet ER is not recommended for use in children and adolescents below 6 years of age since the safety and efficacy of its use are not clinically established.

Driving or operating machines

Angibloc 50 MG Tablet ER may cause dizziness and fatigue in some people. Do not drive vehicles or operate machines after taking this medicine.

Missed Dose

Do not skip any dose of Angibloc 50 MG Tablet ER. If you forget to take a dose of Angibloc 50 MG Tablet ER, take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for the next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not take two doses together to make up for a forgotten dose.

Overdose

Never take more than the prescribed dose. If you suspect that you might have taken an overdose of Angibloc 50 MG Tablet ER, seek immediate medical attention.

Asthma/ COPD

Use Angibloc 50 MG Tablet ER with caution if you have a respiratory condition such as asthma (a condition in which a person's airways become inflamed, narrow and swell and produce extra mucus, which makes it difficult to breathe) or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD; a group of lung diseases that block airflow and make it difficult to breathe). Angibloc 50 MG Tablet ER can cause shortness of breath and also worsen other respiratory symptoms.

Diabetes

Angibloc 50 MG Tablet ER can mask the symptoms of low blood sugar if you have diabetes. Your doctor may suggest tests to monitor your blood sugar levels while on treatment with this medicine.

Liver disease

Angibloc 50 MG Tablet ER should be used with extreme caution if you have a liver problem. This medicine breaks down in your liver and is excreted through urine. Using this medicine while you have pre-existing liver troubles can further worsen your condition.

Glaucoma

Glaucoma or high eye pressure occurs when the nerve connecting the eye to the brain is damaged. Take Angibloc 50 MG Tablet ER with caution if you have such a condition as it may increase the risk of mydriasis (a condition in which the pupil of the eye gets widened due to increased eye pressure).

Hyperlipidaemia

Hyperlipidaemia is a condition in which there are high levels of fat or cholesterol in the blood. Angibloc 50 MG Tablet ER can increase the cholesterol levels in your blood. Hence use Angibloc 50 MG Tablet ER with caution.
Food interactions
Multivitamins with minerals may reduce the effectiveness of Angibloc 50 MG Tablet ER when used together. Take Angibloc 50 MG Tablet ER 2 hours before taking multivitamins with minerals.
