Description
Amlozaar (5/25 mg) Tablet is a combination of Amlodipine and Losartan. It is an anti-hypertensive medicine used for the treatment of high blood pressure. Amlozaar (5/25 mg) Tablet relaxes your heart muscles and widens the blood vessels. This decreases blood pressure and makes it easier for your heart to pump blood throughout your body. Amlozaar (5/25 mg) Tablet shows common side effects like headache, drowsiness, dizziness, swelling of feet and ankles, tiredness and an upset stomach. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and disappear with time. If these symptoms worsen, consult your doctor. Amlozaar (5/25 mg) Tablet can be taken with or without food. Do not self-medicate or stop taking the medicine without your doctor's recommendation as it can lead to withdrawal symptoms. Be careful while standing up from a sitting or lying down position as this medicine may sometimes cause dizziness. Avoid taking Amlozaar (5/25 mg) Tablet with alcohol and grapefruit juice as it can cause dizziness. Amlozaar (5/25 mg) Tablet is not recommended if you have liver and kidney problems or have high potassium levels in your blood. Amlozaar (5/25 mg) Tablet is not recommended for use in children below 6 years, pregnant women and breastfeeding women unless prescribed by your doctor.

Allergy

Aliskiren

Taking Amlozaar (5/25 mg) Tablet and Aliskiren together is not recommended as it may lead to kidney damage, increase in your blood pressure and hyperkalaemia (high potassium levels in the blood). This may cause other side effects such as irregular heartbeat, muscle paralysis, heart attack, etc. This risk is especially higher in the elderly population, in people with diabetes and kidney problems.

Hyperkalemia

Amlozaar (5/25 mg) Tablet may lead to hyperkalaemia (increase in the potassium levels in your body) by preventing the excretion of potassium from the kidneys. Avoid potassium-rich foods or supplements while you are on this medication. Your doctor will suggest tests to regularly monitor your potassium levels. Your doctor may also adjust the dose of this medicine based on your clinical condition.

Use in children

Myocardial infarction and angina

Myocardial infarction (MI) is also known as a heart attack. It occurs due to permanent damage to the heart muscle. Angina is chest pain or discomfort caused by a lack of oxygen-rich blood to your heart muscle. Amlozaar (5/25 mg) Tablet should be used with caution in such conditions, especially while starting the treatment or increasing the dose because it may worsen the symptoms of myocardial infarction or angina.

Impaired liver function

Use Amlozaar (5/25 mg) Tablet with caution if you have liver problems. This medicine is broken down in your liver. Having liver problems may increase the accumulation of this medicine in your body which may damage your liver further. Your doctor will suggest tests to regularly monitor your liver function. They may also adjust the dose of the medicine as per requirements.

Aortic stenosis

Aortic Stenosis is the narrowing of the valve of the aorta (the largest blood vessel that branches off from your heart). Amlozaar (5/25 mg) Tablet should be used with extreme caution if you have aortic stenosis due to the increased risk of hypotension (low blood pressure). It is recommended that you regularly monitor your blood pressure while taking this medicine. Your doctor may adjust the dose of the medicine as per requirements.

Driving and operating machines

Amlozaar (5/25 mg) Tablet may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Avoid performing activities that require mental alertness like driving vehicles or operating machines if you experience any of these symptoms while taking this medicine.

Kidney impairment

Amlozaar (5/25 mg) Tablet should be used carefully if you have kidney problems like renal artery stenosis (narrowing of the arteries that carry blood to the kidneys) and/or volume depletion (excess loss of salt and fluid leading to reduced fluid volume). Missed Dose
