Description
A Bec 300 mg Tablet is an antiviral medicine which is used alone or in combination with other medicines to treat human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. This medicine is not a cure for HIV. It only prevents the virus from multiplying in your body. Monitoring of liver function and blood glucose levels is necessary while receiving this medicine.

Allergy

This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known allergy to abacavir.

HLA-B*5701-positive patients

A Bec 300 mg Tablet is not recommended for use in patients who have screened positive for human leukocyte antigen HLA-B*5701 due to the increased risk of severe hypersensitivity reactions.

Severe Hepatic impairment

Safety and efficacy of this medicine have not been established in patients with moderate to severe hepatic impairment.

General warnings

Fat Redistribution

A Bec 300 mg Tablet may cause fat gain or fat loss from the body. This may result in peripheral wasting, facial wasting, breast enlargement, and Cushingoid appearance. Close monitoring of body weight and body fat distribution is necessary while receiving this medicine. Any changes in the body should be informed to the doctor on priority.

Diabetes

A Bec 300 mg Tablet may alter the blood glucose levels and may also increase the risk of new-onset diabetes mellitus. Close monitoring of blood glucose levels is necessary while receiving this medicine.

Missed Dose

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. Do not use extra medicine to make up for the missed dose.
