His blossoming began with graduation in medicine from Madurai Medical College. He holds a masters degree from National Board of Examinations, New Delhi and from Madras Medical College. In super-specialization he came out with flying colours pursuing MCh in Vascular Surgery from the same institution, Madras Medical College in the year 1995. Additionally, he secured a Fellowship from the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK.
While still a student, his confidence, optimism and accepting challenges enabled his teachers to assign independent theatre tasks.
Equipped with knowledge assimilated from astute teachers and application of thought encouraged his learning trajectory.
Working at premier Government General Hospitals was a blessing for experiential learning from the number and variety of cases in vasculature science.
Teaching was another opportunity to be an eternal student. He is a perennial learner, making best use while preparing a presentation or attending conferences and seminars.
To serve mattered not where. This rural urban exposure, state of art equipment and lack of basic theatre instruments were baptism in managing with what’s available shaped his career path. Like in the poem, two paths lay ahead, he chose less tread roads and that makes a difference.

Organizing workshops and continued Medical Education, many a novice have benefitted. Networking he strived to build on the institution's infrastructure.
Working closely with colleagues from other disciplines of medicine, he took cognisance of peer’s perspectives. To his credit is the start of the full fledged Endovascular procedures in Government hospital. Urologists appreciate Dr. Jeykumar’s contribution in renal transplants particularly double vessel anastomoses, pediatric transplant and redo transplants. Amongst many, are unaided CAPD catheter insertion, Limb salvages surgeries for bone tumours and Vascular trauma. Laparoscopic diagnosis and procedures are to his liking.
