Dr. Sandeep Singh Sidhu is a leading Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist from Ludhiana, Punjab specialising in Hepatic Encephalopathy, Alcoholic Hepatitis and Hepatorenal Syndrome. He has vast expertise and experience in Gastroenterology and has successfully treated high volume of patients in his 20 years of medical practice. Post completion of MBBS in 1984 and MD (Medicine) in 1989 from Christian Medical College, Ludhiana, he accomplished Doctor of Medicine (DM-Gastroenterology) from the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi in 1992. Dr. Sidhu is presently serving as a Professor in the Department of Gastroenterology and Liver Transplantation, Dayanand Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana since 1st April 2006 where he is involved in teaching senior residents and Fellows in Doctor of Medicine training programmes. He dedicates a lot of time towards research and has completed several research projects as the Principal Investigator (published, in press and recruiting). He practices clinical Gastroenterology which includes managing patients in OPD and take management decisions during ward rounds of inpatients. Dr. Sidhu performs diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy and is the Liver Transplantation (DDLT, LDLT) Unit Hepatologist at Dayanand Medical College. He began his career with Dayanand Medical College & Hospital as an Assistant Professor in 1997, then served the College cum Hospital as an Associate Professor for approximately 6 years from Aug 2000 to March 2006. Previously Dr. Sidhu was attached with Christian Medical College and PGIMER (Chandigarh) as an Assistant Professor. He worked with various departments within Christian Medical College as Senior Resident, Registrar and Compulsory Rotating Housemanship (Internship). He served as Senior Resident and Senior Research Associate in All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. He worked as Consultant in Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, Ludhiana for approximately 2 years. Dr. Sidhu is known for his extraordinary skills in diagnosing and treating all types of Gastrointestinal & Liver diseases, performing general medical interventions, conducting independent ward rounds in a wide range of clinical settings, interpreting a range of radiological studies, Liver biopsy (percutaneous and laparoscopic), Diagnostic Endoscopy, Therapeutic endoscopy, Esophageal and Rectal Manometry, Esophageal Ph Metery & Impedance studies and Fibroscan (Liver Elastography). His teaching experience includes teaching MBBS Students since 1986, MD Residents since 1989 and Senior Residents and GI Fellows since 2006. Dr. Sidhu has been incharge of the Endoscopy Unit of the department of Gastroenterology, Dayanand Medical College & Hospital for more than 15 years. He leads a team of highly skilled Endoscopy technicians, Physiologists, Assistant Professors and Associate Professors in the Endoscopy unit. Dr. Sidhu acts as Mentor and motivates the team from time to time for optimal performance besides selecting and introducing new endoscopic equipment and accessories into the unit. Dr. Sidhu is keen on visiting and organising various workshops and conference to share his expertise. During his stint with Dayanand Medical College & Hospital, he organized a GI Endoscopy workshop in North India in 2006.
