He was hesitant at first. But I said, "You were an MD in medicine before becoming a DM in cardiology. I leave my mother in your hands." Why this trust? Especially from someone like me, who is always skeptical about doctors? Because he is not just a doctor—he is a man of integrity. Many pursue medicine, but how many personally call to check on their patients? I must have troubled him endlessly; morning at 7, midnight at 12, but never once did he show irritation. ** *********** ********** ** ********* ****** ** ********* ****** I only regret not meeting him during my father’s illness or my daughter’s time of need. When I had sudden chest pain this January, I went straight to him without hesitation. One ECG, and he told me my heart was in a bad condition. The very next day, he recommended an angiogram. I didn’t think twice, if he said it was serious, it was. I got admitted to Manipal, and the angiogram revealed a 100% blockage at the mouth of the main artery. An angioplasty was done immediately, and a stent was placed. I was discharged the next day and have been recovering well since. He has been gradually reducing my medications, always open to listening if any medicine causes discomfort. Never once have I seen him lose his temper. He is much younger than me, yet he feels like family. He scolds me for smoking, then gently explains why I should quit. Now, I’m back to taking classes at college, back to theater, back to life. Doctors like him are rare. They are not just healers of the body but guardians of life itself. In a world where medicine often becomes just another trade, finding a doctor who truly cares is a blessing. Let us recognize and appreciate such doctors, for they are the ones who restore not just our health, but our faith in humanity.
