awarded a Master of Surgery by the University of Calcutta after successful training at the Institute of
Post Graduate Medical Education and Research, Kolkata, India. He joined West Bengal Medical
Education at the age of thirty at R G Kar Medical College, Kolkata. He was actively involved in Surgical
Education and patient care. He conceptualized and developed Minimal Invasive Surgery Unit at R G
Kar Medical College, Kolkata, and acted in In-charge for more than three years. He is one of the
pioneers in the progression of Minimal Access Surgery in Government institutions in West Bengal. He
has published fifteen articles in different national & international journals.
His area of interest is Minimal Access Surgery and he got trained at GEM Hospital, Coimbatore, India,
and Sir Gangaram Hospital, New Delhi where Prof. Palanivelu was his mentor. Now he is the
Secretary of Minimal Access Surgeons of India, Governing Council Member of the Association of
Surgeons of India. He was involved in national disaster management like Flood relief and Aila at
Sunderban. Currently, he is associated as a Consultant Surgeon at ILS Hospitals, Kolkata. Besides,
being a Professor of Surgery and a senior faculty in this field, he organizes training programs and
courses for Surgical Skill Development. He is also the examiner of different universities in India and
