He completed his general psychiatry residency (MD) training at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Texas, USA. He also completed super-speciality training in Geriatric Psychiatry from Yale University School of Medicine, USA. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
During his psychiatry residency, he was recognized as the 'Research Resident of The Year' for his work on brain-mapping, and ‘Most outstanding psychotherapy resident’ award.
