I have been suffering with Fistula in Ano from June 2015. I am providing a detailed feedback how the corporate hospitals have failed to do the root cause and treat the case. Only after my visit to Dr Sarangapani sir I have started recovering as he use a RARE and UNIQUE Combination of Allopathy (Dr P J Vidyasagar - MD General Surgeon for all surgical interventions) + Ayurveda & Panchakarma (Dr Sarangapani S- MD Ayurveda for all Kshara Sutra & Panchakarma) for these kind of complex and complicated cases. Treatment/ Surgery and follow ups in Max Hospital, Saket, New Delhi.

I was suffering with Fistula In Ano from 5 Months and thus decided to go for Dr’s advice/ consultation. On 29th Jan 2016, I visited Max Hospital Saket to meet the Dr Anil Sharma.

After getting the required tests like MRI/CBC/Serum Culture done, a Complex Perianal Fistula Communicating with Horseshoe Ischio anal Abscess with 2 internal mucosal opening was identified. My 1st Surgery (MAFT- Minimal Invasive Anal Fistula Treatment) was performed on 3rd February 2016 followed by discharged from the hospital on 4th Feb 2016.

Post-Surgery, it felt like the procedure went well and I was fine but 2 weeks later I had developed severe cramps in my bowel, which persisted for almost a month. I was visiting Dr. Anil Sharma in Max Hospital, Saket regularly for follow ups during this entire period. In fact I had been constantly complaining for severe cramps and diarrhea to my treating Dr. Anil Sharma but every single time I was told that nothing was wrong. I was adamant to carry out my colonoscopy/MRI but Dr. Anil Sharma refused saying it is not required.

On 19th April 2016, I was advised by Dr. Anil Sharma (Max) to meet Mr. Amanjit Singh in Medanta for further treatment and management as Max Hospital, Saket was not equipped well enough to meet such GI cases

Admission, follow ups and discharge- MEDANTA Hospital, Gurgaon

Multiple tracts, full of pus were identified and it was then on 21st April 2016 my second MRI was carried out. Dr Amanjeet performed second surgery on 27th April 2016 followed by discharge from the hospital on 28th April 2016

I don’t know what went wrong even though Dr Amanjeet was examining the operated site every week during the dressings, I had developed perianal abscess. 3rd Surgery was performed on 2nd June 2016 to drain the perianal Abscess on Right side and Seton Change after checking the status of Seton in situ.

4th Surgery was performed on 3rd Aug 2016 for Seton Change.

Post 4th surgery In spite of multiple surgeries doctor was not able to identify the reason for the Fistula in Ano.

Treatment at Sai Chaitanya Clinic - Hyderabad

3rd MRI was performed on 28th Oct 2016 and total of 10 Tracts were identified, Colonoscopy report confirmed Crohn’s Colitis with rectal sparing and perianal fistula suggestive of fistulizing Crohn’s . Based on MRI and latest Colonoscopy reports, 5th Surgery was performed on 4th Nov 2016. Another i. e. 6th Surgery was performed on 7th Jan 2017 for curating and tracing the tracts communicating with internal openings. Kshara Sutra was also performed. (Sai Chaitanya Clinic - Hyderabad)

7th Surgery (to clean the perianal abscess) and Kshara Sutra were performed on 10th March 2017. (Sai Chaitanya Clinic - Hyderabad)

2nd Colonoscopy was carried out at (Apollo Health City - Hyderabad) to ascertain the Ulceration and Inflammation in the Large intestine and alternative treatment.

Currently 5 Kshara Sutra threads are there and every 5-10 days these threads need to be changed for quick relief and curing of fistula in Ano. Simultaneously Ayurvedic medicine along with Panchakarma is being administered for treating Crohn’s Pancolitis as there is no cure for the same in Allopathy. I am required to visit the Dr Sarangapani sir every 5-10 days for the dressing, changing of threads and examination & Panchakarma.

I am hopeful about my recovery now as the alternative treatment is being quite successful in terms of healing Fistula & remission of flare ups.

I am thankful to Dr Sarangapani & Dr PJ Vidyasagar for all the moral support which they have extended apart from treatment. Now I am very much positive that I will be cured as I have resumed office after 1 long year was only because of them.

I underwent 4 surgeries(3 at Big multinational hospitals and the last surgery at Sai Bharadwaj Hospital)My problem started as Pilonidal sinus, which is not a serious condition and easily treatable but due the negligence of a Doctor during my 1st surgery my condition got worse and a non serious condition turned into a very serious and complicated condition over time. I will be referring the 1st 3 hospitals as Hospital A,B,C

1st surgery: Hospital A

The pilonidal sinus tracks were not properly traced and removed. The wound was left open and for almost 6-7 months and whenever I asked about the recovery the doctor dais very good and that it will self heal I was not given any instructions on the post surgery care at home or medicines to stop the infection.

Well, after 6 months of non healing and infected wound I had to go some place else and the Doctor at B suggested another surgery

2nd Surgery: Hospital B

Before my 2nd surgery the doctor gave prescription to use antibiotics for a whole month. 2 antibiotic injections per day for a week and daily oral antibiotics. After 2 week my stomach started hurting all the time I was bloated couldn't eat food at all.

The surgery was conducted without any MRI scans or any scans which would help in tracing the sinus tracks and the wound was sutured. The infection inside spread more because the wound was closed from the outside and the infection made more tracks and went deep inside the muscle.

3rd Surgery: Hospital C

This is one of the biggest hospital brand in India, I underwent my 3rd surgery and received a huge bill for 1 day stay and the post care was nothing but buying expensive medicines and creams the doctor barely check the wound every saturday and the other days the Nurses dressed the wound and again after 6 months of non healing open wound my condition got even worse this time the pilonidal sinus spread so deep that it actually formed 2 Anal Fistulas( 1 High anal fistula and the other Mid level Fistula) this usually does not happen because Pilonidal sinus and Anal Fistula are 2 different conditions

4th Surgery: Sai Bharadwaj Ayurveda Hospital

After researching a lot about my condition I found that there is an Ayurvedic treatment for it called Kshar Sutra and Visited Sarangapani Sir. This is by the the best decision I have taken which ended the 3 years of suffering. Sarangapani Sir asked my about the previous surgeries and patiently listened to every detail for around 30-45 mins and then examined my condition and suggested an Advance scan to pin point and trace the bounds of the infection, and after conducting all the necessary tests I underwent my Last surgery. Usually when people undergo surgery for high anal fistula they experience Incontinence but I had no such problem The next day Dr.Sarangapani explained my exactly what happened and how complicated it got and what method he had used during the surgery, I was given a detailed explanation on the post wound care at home. The part which still shocks me is the fact that the wound completely healed in 2 months and previously I had open wound for 6-7 months and had to wear dressing pads every single day for 3 years.

After 3 years of suffering, many sleepless nights, days which were extremely painful my problem came to an end after visiting this Hospital. The Doctor and the staff are extremely friendly and considerate Dr.Sarangapani has got a lot of experience in treating complicated cases which are even worse than my condition and changed many peoples lives including mine.

If anyone is going through any such problems then it's better if you get it treated by the right Doctor at the very earliest. The more it gets delayed the more complicated it gets.
