I always felt that creating awarenes…read mores and educating people on prevention of oral diseases such as Dental cavities, Gum disease and Oral cancer was a fundamental step to achieve the utmost purpose of a health profession.. Which, in my humble opinion, is the prevention of diseases. Through the years, I observed that Dental professionals have very little time to re-educate their clients on how to prevent oral disease. I say “re-educate” because most of us are self taught when it comes to brushing and flossing our teeth and, as a result, we tend to carry many bad habits and we do not achieve desirable results. Re-education is a process. We cannot change old habits by superficially reminding someone how to brush and floss at their yearly check up. During my clinical practice, I realized that it takes time and perseverance to change established brushing and flossing habits (as with any other bad habit), so I decided that I wanted to reach more people by making up-to-date oral self care education more accessible.
