A Spectrum of Challenges
According to Dr. Sridevi, seeing a patient with cervical cancer is “heartbreaking” because it is an almost entirely preventable disease. If a woman undergoes screening by having Pap smear done, cervical cancer’s prevalence becomes incredibly rare. Furthermore, increased use of the HPV vaccine and appropriate cervical screening would eliminate nearly all cervical cancers. Cervical cancer can be prevented and to ensure this everyone must have access to screening and prevention.
Ovarian cancer presents yet another challenge as there is no reliable way to screen or detect it in the early stage. However, the Brightside is more aggressive & innovative surgeries and new ways of delivering chemotherapy, which can help women with ovarian cancer to live longer.
