⦁ Respected Dr.Sk.Gupta,To say about this doctor there are no more words. With which god we must compare and with which flower we must pray to him. We will never forgive him all over the life. These I am not saying just because he saved my child life but I have seen many doctors in last 6-7yrs and also visited many hospitals as well. His passion towards patient and family care is just speechless.
⦁ My name is M.Padma and son name M.Durga Prasad (age 13 years). He is suffering from sickle cell thalesemia disease. We diagnosed at 6 years age,We approached to couple of doctors at different hospitals, but they had not given the permanent solution, From last 6 months back he is suffering from sevior problems and we admitted in one of big corporate( almost three times in this 4month time period) hospital at Somajiguda when my son was very serious, doctors had neglected and said to discharge at that time.
By god grace luckly we approached Dr.Sk.Gupta sir about whome we already heard a lot but couldn't approach him.
⦁ We call the doctor at night 10:30 pm on 30/06/2020.Doctor understand our problems with patience and we cried so much, Docter said that to save your child , its my responsible.
⦁ We approached Dr.Sk.Gupta with the family members at kukatpally. Sir explained about sickle cell disease, He made us to understand the problem and then gave the final solution is BMT (Bone Marrow Transplant).
⦁ As followed the treatment first is to find donars for stem cells and for the stem cells my both daughter gave the HLA matching test ,for one sister 5/10 has got matched for second sister 10/10 has got matched. He collected stem cells from second daughter without much trouble ( but we were very scared before and during this stem cell collection Procedure). The second step is to find trouble .B- blood group (WBC,RBC,PLATELETS).Third step is to arrange money. Sir said that estimatly 13 lakhs and in that 7 lakhs for medicines can be happen. We said sir that we don't have that much money and sir gave gave 30% discount for medicines and other tests. We went to other corporate hospital also for Bone marrow transplant estimates but sir estimate was very much affordable.
⦁ As treatment is started sir used to be monotorize regularly according to patient conditions and communicate to the staff members.Nearly one month we are in hospital,Sir took very good care about my son and at last we succesfully completed 'BMT' procedure and discharged at september-30-2020. It's almost 100days over post stem cell transplant and my son as of now is doing well. Sir have explained that upto 1yr is very very important to out from danger.
⦁ Once again thank you ( which we feel is very less ) to Dr.Sk.Gupta sir and his staff

Life With NON HODGKIN'S LYMPHOMA BLOOD CANCER. I'm Faiyaz Shafique Ansari aged 59 years. Resident of Darjeeling.West Bengal.India. Diagnosed Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma in March 2019. People or patients with cancer can't survive long was in my , and my family opinion. But the medical advances and on top of that personalized care given by Dr SK Gupta Sir. My journey of treatment :In my home town my doctor advised me to take puffs for asthma as I was in short of breath.Low Haemoglobin was detected. Iron pills were advised and lastly bronchitis was declared.Again new tests were advised for nothing. I decided to go to South India and found GOLD MEDALIST Dr S.K.Gupta sir best hematologist in Hyderabad India. I took my flight on 21st March 2019 at 5pm and on the very next day I went to the hospital gave my blood sample. Within 2 hours he diagnosed I had NHL by bone marrow biopsy and aspiration test .Lastly PET scan was also done and luckily no cancerous cells were found in my vital organs. Dr S.K.Gupta advised me for 6 chemo cycles and described in detail (till we got satisfied ) all the aspects of treatment plan. Myself has undergone NHL cancer treatment and I can tell that the chemotherapy can often be tough to endure, and can cause dangerous side effects but with my fighting spirit which gave me the strength to overcome all the odds and with excellent support , monitoring I did not developed any serious side effects and didn't get hospitalized again . Dr Gupta was very much careful and supportive .His treatments included medication, emotional support, relaxation techniques, for nutritional support, and charges were economical. This kind of care can be helpful for all cancer patients. My experience tells me listen to the doctor's advices and give support , rest is in the hands of the Creator. In between chemotherapy cycles he made me so confident and strong that I travelled to Varanasi and I started walking on the ghats during my short vacation. After my 4th chemotherapy Dr S.K.Gupta advised me to go for 2nd biopsy and IHC marker test. Thanks Almighty God in whose hand is my life and thank you DrS.K.Gupta for the healings and treatment. My cancerous cells were found negative in the tests.
My health condition started improving with little bit of weakness still persists in the body due to chemotherapy. In my last discharge book he advised me to come for a review in January 2020 that's so nice no harassments for the patient. I was there and Dr Gupta checked me with no problems in my body.During Covid era he gave me on-line appointment via whatsapp Dr Gupta gave me a lesson I have learnt “NO PAIN NO GAIN”. My CBC report shows the graph of platelets and hemoglobin going up to normal and yes of course sometimes it fluctuates up and down. But life goes on .May God Almighty Allah bless Dr S.K.Gupta all the best . He saves many lives with his knowledge and experience skills by giving right kind of treatment and good advices. I shall ever remain grateful to Dr S.K. Gupta sir and his excellent timely supportive team .
Again the Corona pandemics started I was taking precautions at home .Lastly I was found Covid positive in November 2020.It was a horrible experience but I fought with covid 19 and won over it.On 26 Nov 2020 in second covid test my report was negative.Being a blood cancer patient I fought the deadly Covid 19 by my will power and with my local doctor's support.
Lymphoma and chemos makes immunity weak but the treatment Dr Gupta did on me was successful and I am alive in normal conditions.I haven't been advised to take a single tablet for post NHL .
I will advise all blood cancer patients to consult with Dr S.K.Gupta, before going ** ********* ** **** ****** * ** *** ******* * *********** *** **** other hospitals of Hyderabad.

During the journey of getting my father-in-law Shri AV Narasimha Rao's( 79 yrs) teatment I would likr to post a few of my feelings caused by the experience obtained in visiting the hospitals, and at the same time I would also like to place on record our appreciation for Dr SK Gupta, Clinical Hematologist and Hemato Oncologist on behalf of my father-in-law who is receiving treatment for his problem of Lukemia. In 2019, my father-in-law, the patient, developed a lump in his shoulder and after many consultations, wrong diagnosis/treatment, on referral by a known family friend we had approached Dr SK Gupta at his clinic H&BMTII at Kukatpally. He promptly conducted all requisite tests and correctly did the diagnosis and accordingly counselled the patient and his family how to go about the treatment. Within two months after getting admitted to Citizens Hospital and receiving treatment from Dr Gupta the patient recouped considerably. He timely gave corrective treatment for enhancing the WBC/platelets/hemoglobin levels to the desired levels. Intermittently when the patient's morale is down to get admitted in hospital, he gave treatment at his clinic H&BMTII at Kukatpally. At present, Dr Gupta is attached to continental hospital and the patient is receiving treatment there under his able guidance. When there were issues pertaining to diet, hygene or insurance bottlenecks Dr Gupta immediately intervened and solved the matters thereby putting the patient in comfortable zone.
With his professional acumen, the doctor has always tactfully dealt with the patient and instilled confidence in him and boosted up his will power before and after every chemo cycle or during rigorous medical tests. The doctor is instrumental in bringing back the patient to almost normalcy but for some set backs which are beyond his control. I on behalf of the patient commend the job of Dr SK Gupta and wish him a bright and prosperous career ahead and am sure he would make wonders in Hemato Oncology.

We have observed few blue colour bruises on my five year old daughter's legs. When consulted our peadeatrician, doctor recommended for a heamogram test. I was absolutely shattered and panicked when the heamogram report revealed the WBC count is above 2 Lakhs. I was very worried and all of a sudden, life became upside down.I was in complete dark. Then comes a ray of hope in the form of Doctor SK Gupta when my friend adviced us to consult Doctor SK Gupta. We are very fortunate that my daughter is being treated by Dr SK Gupta. Doctor is down to earth, has good patience, explains in detail about the core health problem, treatment road map, empathy towards patients.
Dr SK Gupta. Doctor Gupta will only give the treatment and recommends diagnostic tests which are required in treating the health ailment. In my daughter's case, doctor recommended only PB and karyotyping test to diagnose CML. We were in constant touch with few of our family friends and relatives who panicked us saying why bone marrow test is not done yet in diagnosing the problem which is a basic mandatory test. When consulted doctor on same, he politely explained us saying why small baby should unnecessarily suffered with bone marrow test which is a very painful procedure when we can diagnose the cause through other tests which are not a very painful procedures. Doctor clearly told us that he will go for bone marrow test only if it is required and only incase the cause of ailment is not able to diagnose through PB and Karyotyping tests
Doctor is an expert in diagnosing the problem with step by step approach and giving the proper required treatment once the problem is diagnosed. After my baby is diagnosed with CML, doctor immediately started treatment and within a month my baby's WBC count is back to normal. WBC count is down to 6.5K all the way from frightening 2 Lakhs count. I would really like to thank Doctor SK Gupta and we are so blessed to have you as our Doctor. I would also like to thank Doctor's PA who is available round the clock in providing the required support and she actively follow up on my baby's health. Based on our personal experience and after knowing about to the point quality treatment offered by doctor, I strongly recommend doctor SK Gupta as your Doctor for any heamotology and heamotology-Oncology related ailments.

*** ********* ** *** **** ****** *** *** **** *********** ****** ******* I want to share my experience which may be helpful when you try to find correct doctor to consult.
In July’2019, I felt swelling in my left side of stomach, went to a gynecologist, after abdominal scan, they confirmed that Spleen got increased and asked me to have some more tests done.
When I googled about the reasons for Spleen enlargement and ways to rectify the issue, I came to know that treating it is not a direct process but should find out the root cause of the problem.
Then I searched for good doctor and came to know about Dr. S.K.Gupta in AOI (American Oncology Institute). I went to meet him and was waiting. I was totally afraid with that environment and patients and complications there. But when I went to Doctor, his first words were .. “Don’t worry by seeing Oncology department and every problem is curable”, then asked what do you think about your problem, then I said Spleen Enlargement and I believe that it will be rectified with my IRON, Hemoglobin increment. Then doctor suggested to have few tests. But I was afraid and didn’t turn up.
I was taking IRON Tablets, after two months also, there was no increment in Hemoglobin or platelet count or WBC. With my aunt’s suggestion, went to Gastroenterologist (Hepatologist) . Then I had all the tests done to check on liver issues. After confirming that there is no issue with Liver, he suggested to meet Oncologyst or Hematologyst in Yashoda Hospital, Secunderabad. We went there and Doctor asked to have Bone Marrow test to be done to diagnose the issue. As everyone in the department said, it is not so painful and will take only few hours to be back to normal.
I had bitter experience there. After Bone marrow test, I was unable to turn my Right leg or walk. I was hale and healthy and was going to work till that day. But after Bone marrow test was done, my right thigh turned black and took almost three weeks to come back to normal.
After one week, we got reports of Bone marrow, which was not at all clear.
As Yashoda, Secunderabad was too far for us, we went to CARE Hospital, Gachibowli. When we met the doctor there, without even observing my situation, he said .. Bone marrow test reports are not clear to pin point the issue. So, we have to repeat the Bone marrow test and PET Scan to be done. And also said that.. as we see issues in Bone marrow.. Stage 4 Cancer. So, immediately treatment to be started. Myself and my husband were in shock and I was thinking about my children and their future. But, I requested my husband to go out of the hospital and take me to Dr. S.K.Gupta once (In Kukatpally branch of his own).
Then my life turned pleasant. Immediately after meeting the doctor, I got the confidence that we took a right decision. The first gesture of the doctor was .. he asked about my situation, routine and what am I going thru. I explained him everything and he said .. as you are healthy and able to be active, manage your routine, office work, house hold etc .. nothing to worry. As Bone marrow reports are not clear, please bring those samples here and submit to me, so that I can analyze further and can conclude on the issue behind Spleen enlargement.
He suggested for PET Scan too, to find if issue is in any other places too. After analyzing, doctor could find the issue as chronic B-CELL NHL. As it is in Bone marrow, STAGE 4 but by observing me & my husband, doctor gave great moral support to overcome that tension. As it is not Life threatening, let us first try to improve iron levels and HB and gave Iron injections, which improved a lot and could manage my routine as usual. As doctor suggested, with constant Yoga, Meditation good diet and regular checkups, we are very happy now.*** ***** **** *** ********* *** ** *** **** ****** * **** *** *** ******** *********

I do my health checkups regularly, having gall bladder & pancreases problem, during my regular check on 08-04-2019 at Chalmadea Hospital at Karimnagar. After my check-up doctor asked me to have the following test i.e. CBP, RFT, LFT, completed the tests then after by seeing the reports chalmeda doctor suggested to meet Oncology consultant. I also read impression in reports came to know that my WBC cells were not in normal range i.e. 22000. I came to home with reports with deep concern about my life which is running without any huddles suddenly this news disturb myself and my family, I show them to my son he also cross checked with other doctor’s they also given the same opinion to meet oncology specialist without any delay. We were in a situation where we not able to take any decision what suppose to do. By seeing the treatment and cost and possibility of surviving of life over Internet completely collapse us mentally like blank mind and it’s very tough time not sure about the treatment and all basically it very hard to observe this thing .At last with a hope we plan to meet Hyderabad’s oncology specialists. We consulted a doctor at MNJ hospital lakdi ka pool on 16-04-2019. Again taken the all the tests like bone marrow & CBP blood tests and diagnosed with dangerous cancer disease i.e. AML (ACUTE MYELOID LEUKEMIA HYPERLEUCOCYTOSIS). Counselled us as its dangerous disease it should be treated with chemotherapy in between treatment there is 80% death chances treatment should start immediately if not it would be a problem and this treatment is very expensive.
The hope which we had before start’s to Hyderabad that we can go with a best treatment but AML news put us in a situation where we could not able to come up simply death situation. At this juncture WBC 40000 and blast cells 60%.
Later on discussion ‘s with my family and relatives ,they suggest me take ayurvedic treatment it s helpful to curable then I immediately went to Chhattisgarh state chota dongri area I have taken medicines accordingly and started using medicine over a period of month . During this course we went through the blood test, WBC cells reached 190000 (one laky ninety thousand).
After this we had discussion with cousin, she is a doctor in Australia suggest not wait for a while immediately visit oncology specialist DR S.K.Gupta based reviews over internet.
After the diagnosis, we met Gupta sir in his office at American Institute of Oncology. He always greets his patients with smile and I must admire his patience and his friendly approach to the patient and as well to the attendees.
Gupta Sir spent almost an hour in explaining us about the disease and the treatment options we could opt for.
His explanation of disease was exemplary and was extremely helpful. Only, if we understood what he was suffering from could we hope for a successful treatment.
The more Gupta sir talked, the less afraid we felt. And even before starting the treatment, I could sense in my father that he was already getting his confidence back. Due credit to Dr Sir.
We could not have hoped for a better doctor than him.
We were reluctant at first to go for any further tests, but he told us that it is imperative that we must go through a PET-CT scan and a bone marrow biopsy for staging.
He mentally prepared my father about the procedure and instilled confidence, that it is nothing more than a simple procedure.
I tolerated the pain quite amicably as he was already prepped up mentally for this.
It is that friendly nature and a confident approach made us believe in him more.
PET-CT confirmed, Meditational adenopathy and Few 3 small solid nodules noted in both lower lobes –indeterminate etiology.
During first phase treatment Gupta sir suggested to have donor’s also helped in searching donor outside and inside blood bank whenever we required Haemoglobin, WBC cells and Platelets.
During induction of first phase i had gone through side effects like Fever, cough ,hair fall urination ,frequent and joint pains during this phase Gupta sir helped a lot in terms of giving good advises, good treatment felt very comfortable talking to me which given new hope to myself and my family members. Successfully completed the first month course i went home for 15 days for recovery period. Gupta sir told us back 2 weeks of time.
After two weeks i.e on 1st July 2019 when i back to Oncology hospital at that time my platelets were increased to almost 683 lakhs and monocytes and eosinophils very less. At this time also Gupta sirs build confidence in me and to my family members this is because of injection which can be controlled.
Then MY Second Induction treatment starts, during this time taken 6 days chemotherapy and i went back to home for 3 days as recovery period. After 3 days i suffered with fever immediately admitted
As per Dr Gupta sir advise for support treatment again blood transmission and graefel injection for controlling fever. After controlling the fever i went back home for recovery.
Like this mentioned as above my treatment goes for two months (August and September 2019).
After completion of course my hemotology reports were in normal as a regular human. By the god grace till this date i don’t have any problems and working like as earlier. This is because of Gupta sir advises, treatment and good wishes to wards patients.
Also i want to thanks to haematology staff nurse namely Suma, Alice and geeta.I never forgets their way of handling me.
The treatment is safe *** ********* and this cancer is even curable if diagnosed in its early stage and is treated by a “Gold Medallist”. We are very much thankful to Dr Gupta sir in particular, hoping to see my father to be normal soon. What we have learned is that –we should not have fear about cancer word, it’s treatable, and curable as well. I can’t forget the support given by my friends who came forward in donating their Granulocytes, SDPs.

Received treatment for Classical Hodgkin's lymphoma, mixed cellularity subtype.
The patient is my wife aged 29 years.
Background
About a year back (July 2018), my wife complained of burning sensation in her feet and described the sensation was like stabbing the feet with pins. We thought It was a classic symptom of being diabetic, so we did a random glucose test but it came back negative.
Week after week, she was developing new symptoms, a little dizziness and feeling fatigue all the time. Then we consulted a near-by physician in Hyderabad who advised her few tests like cbp, cue and ultrasound. The blood panel indicated that she was low on hgb (10) and the urine cultures revealed no bacterial infections. The Dr said that my wife does not have enough Iron in her body and she is anaemic. He prescribed her Iron supplements for a month and to do a follow up after a month.
She religiously took the Iron tablets daily and started on heavy protein diet, but after a month, the hgb levels reduced to 9.0. All her RBC component values were out of range. Although the WBC was in the normal range, but the neutrophils were high & lymphocytes were low. The ESR was consistently elevated. We went back to the doctor with the reports and he said, some-times one month of Iron supplements are not enough to bring the iron levels up and he put her on Iron tablets for 1 more month.
I started consulting other physicians for diagnosis, but they too advised the same treatment. Even after 2 months of taking Iron tabs, her condition was not getting stable.
The new symptoms were appearing each passing week. She developed shortness of breath, weight loss (6-7 kgs in 3 months), nausea and vomiting.
Some of them said – all her symptoms were due to anaemia and it is considered normal for Indian women to have a hgb levels at a 9-10 range. And concluded that the ESR is a non-specific test and is generally high for anaemic patients.
The other doctor ordered a ferritin (Iron stores in body), Vitamin b12 and a Vitamin D3 Tests to rule out any deficiencies in the body. To our surprise, there were enough Iron stores in the body. So, the physician concluded that the Iron stores are available in the body, but they are not getting absorbed due to Vitamin deficiencies. Thereafter, she was again put on the Iron Supplements along with Vitamin D3K tablets.
She took these medications for another month and in the next blood report, the hg level further got reduced to 8.7 g/dl. We Immediately started consulting specialists.
We consulted endocrinologist for hyperthyroidism, gastrologist for abdomen pains & for loss of appetite, ophthalmologist for any eye related head aches and a physician for general body pains.
Even after 2 months of medications and series of consultations with specialists, we were no where near to diagnosis. We were getting quite frustrated and my wife was already giving up and was getting fed up with doing many tests but not getting any confirmed diagnosis.
We knew, there was some underlying problem associated with my wife being anaemic. The doctors thus far, we consulted were trying to treat the symptoms but not the underlying cause. We started researching for specialists who deals in anaemia related issues or any blood disorders issues and every search was leading to only one doctor in Hyderabad “Dr S K GUPTA”.
Diagnosis
We consulted Dr S K Gupta after 3 months of our health situation. He was doing a consultation at Olive hospital, Mehdipatnam at that time.
Dr Gupta sir was very patient and listened to all our problems, He evaluated all my wife’s symptoms and said she could require an Iron infusion need to be given intravenously. Even though he was a consulting doctor at Olive hospital, he ensured that she was given the proper treatment and as per our convenience.
The Iron Infusion did help her to re gain some of her strength and hg level shot up to 11 g/dl, but still there were some other symptoms that refused to die down.
For the first time in all our consultations with various doctors, Dr Gupta was the one who actually looked closely to elevated value of ESR and said this could mean there is some infection/inflammation in the body we need to find out it’s location and ordered for a CRP test.
The CRP test result were high, and he directed us to a general physician in the same hospital who advised for a chest XRAY.
The XRAY revealed some modulated opacities found near hilar region – likely lymph nodes.
Later a CT with contrast of chest was performed – The result indicated there were several discreet enlarged lymph nodal mass and largest of them was measuring 6cms.
A biopsy was conducted to determine the underlying cause of enlarged lymph nodes.
We were hoping for a TB, but it came out to be a Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
An IHC test was done on biopsy stains to determine the markers, type & sub type of lymphoma.
Finally – She was diagnosed with a Classical Hodgkin’s lymphoma, sub-type: Mixed cellularity.
Only, if had consulted Dr Gupta sir before, we wouldn’t have wasted 3 months.
Now, all we needed was our treatment options.
Dr SK Gupta
After the diagnosis, we met Gupta sir in his office at American Institute of Oncology. He always greets his patients with smile and I must admire his patience and his friendly approach to the patient and as well to the attenders.
Gupta Sir spent almost an hour in explaining us about the disease and the treatment options we could opt for.
His explanation of disease in layman terms was exemplary and was extremely helpful. Only, if we understood what she was suffering from could we hope for a successful treatment.
The more Gupta sir talked, the less afraid we felt. And even before starting the treatment, I could sense in my wife that she was already getting her confidence back. Due credit to Dr Sir.
We could not have hoped for a better doctor than him.
Not only does he explains the things in an easy way but also listens to our concerns and addresses our apprehensions.
We were reluctant at first to go for any further tests, but he told us that it is imperative that we must go through a PET-CT scan and a bone marrow biopsy for staging.
He mentally prepared my wife about the procedure and instilled confidence, that it is nothing more than a simple procedure.
My wife tolerated the pain quite amicably as she was already prepped up mentally for this.
It is that friendly nature and a confident approach made us believe in him more.
PET-CT confirmed of mediastinum nodal masses and BMB came back negative (which was a big relief). The cancer was staged IIb non-bulky with no BM (bone marrow) involvement.
Treatment
Dr Gupta sir set up a treatment plan for my wife that was comprising of chemotherapy of 6 cycles and a radiation(if required).
Each cycle was administered in two sessions with 2 weeks apart. The chemo drug “ABVD” was given intravenously by trained nurses in haemato ward at AOI.
The Treatment plan also included an Interim PET-CT scan to evaluate how the treatment was working. The Interim PET-CT was done after 2 and half cycles and the result was considered on par expectation as per plan.
She underwent a full-fledged chemotherapy without a break in 6 months’ time.
After the treatment, we were advised for Complete blood picture test and a final PET-CT scan after 6 weeks of completion of treatment.
After a long time, we could see all her blood components were back in normal ranges and ESR was also normal.
The PET-CT showed Inactive nodal disease, however there were still few residual nodes in the mediastinum. We though It could be necrosis/fibrosis mass. The patient is now under observation and praise be to GOD, showing no signs nor any symptoms of the disease.
We will be doing regular follow ups now with blood tests to ensure everything is under check.
PICC Line
With the administration of chemo given intravenously, my wife developed a severe phlebitis at the injection site. It was very painful for her, and It became impossible to continue the chemo via intravenously.
Gupta Sir advised us to go for a PICC line insertion. It is peripherally inserted central catheter –a surgical procedure where in a vein like tube inserted into a body from arm’s veins to the greater veins inside the body. The thin tube will be inside the body and it will be connected to the extension pipe hanging out, through which the drugs are given and blood is drawn.
We started noticing that there were few air bubbles forming inside the picc line extension tube after some time and every 2-3 days, we had to go to hospital to do the aspiration of the bubble and flush/clean the tube. We brought this to Gupta’s sir notice. He informed us that, though it’s a problem, but it was not life threatening, and it only required some maintenance. We needed to weigh in the risks/benefits of having a picc line. We felt it would be better to continue with the picc line with a replacement of extension tube.
Even though the replacement was not much help, but we could not help but admire and commend the commitment of Dr Gupta for his zeal to resolve even a trivial issue associated with his patients.
Side Effects
The side effects kicked in immediately for my wife. She would feel nauseous for 2-3 days after every chemo session. But they got subsided gradually due to pre-medications that were given before chemo to relieve the nauseated feeling.
She started losing her hair after the 2nd cycle. There was little discolouration under her finger nails, but these did not deter her to fight this disease off.
Gupta sir warned us not to fall for any other herbs or outside medicines/supplements that are marketed as cure for cancer.
There were some side effects that were greatly managed by Gupta sir and his team by giving us appropriate guidance.
She never lost any weight, instead she gain weight.
No Vomiting occurred during the treatment course.
No complains of dizziness or headaches.
Less fatigue than before.
Over All, the side effects never did bother her to continue with the treatment.
As her husband, I feel proud that she fought this disease very bravely and had never let the burden on any one else. She was always extra cautious to ensure that she does not catch any infections. I also had to make our children to keep distance from her for some time. She withstood all the side effects and always hoped and prayed to GOD to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Conclusion
Never ignore a febrile fever, anemia, un intentional weight loss or any swollen lymph nodes.
Instead of doing a self-treatment by taking over the counter medicines, consult a doctor or a specialist and get the tests done. The early this disease is caught, higher the chances of beating it and reduces a whole lot of financial burden.
Hodgkin’s lymphoma is one of the most curable cancers now a days if caught early.
In our country, we have people believing in rumours than fact. We have people trusting in non-proven medicines than in well researched medicines.
When we started our journey into this, many of our well-wishers advised us not to go for chemotherapy related treatment. They cited examples of their loved ones who succumbed to this treatment 10 year or 20 years back. But they failed to realise that these drugs are well researched and are getting better and better over the years. Few years back, sure they might have been less efficient and could have had higher side effects, but it’s different now and the drugs are always improving year after year. Today’s chemo drugs go through rigours researches and they go through many phases of trials before they could put it up on market for further use.
One more a very basic thing I learned from Dr Gupta sir and felt it worthy to share is – there r 2 types structure/organ in our body—solid vs liquid . Doc who treat solid organs (breast, lung, mouth, brain, prostate excetra) disorders – are either medical oncology or surgical oncology or radiation oncology based on requirements. Liquid organs (blood cells, their producing factory –bone marrow cells , their storage area – spleen, their developmental area – lymph nodes ) in our body are very much inter-linked to each other, disease can easily compromise their vital function leading to life threatening situation – so handle there 4 liquid organ disorders a very super specialised branch in oncology – HEMATOLOGY/HEMATO-ONCOLOGY is there. So before going to any oncology branch think which organ disease is there and who is best suitable oncologist.
The treatment is safe and effective and this cancer is even curable if diagnosed in its early stage and is treated by a “Gold Medallist”.

Treatment received for my wife for Castleman’s Disease
In April-2017, My wife’s felt an enlarged lymph node under her arms. We consulted my wife’s gynecologist who did an ultrasound and confirmed it is a mild case of infection leading to enlarged lymph nodes and she prescribed antibiotics for a week. But the size of lymph node did not return to normal. We then went to another hospital for consultation, where the doctor advised to do a FNAC test. The FNAC test results also confirmed that the enlarged lymph nodes were due to reactive adenitis (may be infection). She was then prescribed another set of high dose antibiotics for nearly 2 weeks, even after which the size of the lymph node did not return to normal.
In June-2017, my wife had severe stomach pain resulting in admission to citizens hospital under Dr. Sarada (Gastroenterologist). She then ran a series of tests to find out a reason for my wife’s stomach pain, but nothing came up positive.
Dr. Sarada then advised an open-biopsy for the enlarged lymph node to rule out any other reason for stomach pain. The pathological results of the lymph node showed that this is a case of Castleman’s disease (hyaline vascular type). We came to utter shock about the diagnosis and were worried as the doctors informed that this is a very rare disease and has very limited treatment options available in India. We were then referred to Dr. SK Gupta who is a pure hematologist practice only for liquid organs (blood, bone marrow, spleen, & lymph nodes) disorders for consultation. My wife now started to have fever for every 8 hours which was not subsiding, and no one was able to confirm whether the disease if causing these symptoms.
Dr. SK Gupta then ordered a few series of tests to rule out any other possibilities of this disease. The final diagnosis was confirmed that multicentric Castleman’s disease (Hyaline vascular form). Gupta sir then reassured that this can be treated without much side effects of the drugs. He was also very open and informed us a get an 2nd opinion, if we feel to go for it. We did get 2nd opinion from another hospital where they also agreed with Dr SK Gupta sir treatment.
We then decided to continue with Dr. SK Gupta and AOI for treatment. My wife received treatment with 6 cycles of rituximab weekly for 6 weeks and then oral steroids for 6 weeks. Gupta sir was very patient in answering all our queries during the treatment cycle. Just after 2 cycles my wife’s symptoms started to resolve. By the end of 6th cycle of rituximab my wife completely became normal. Gupta sir then asked us to continue steroids for another few weeks after which he tapered the dose of steroids gradually. By Nov-2017, my wife’s treatment was complete, and all her blood work up became normal and her lymph nodes reduced in size.
We are currently following up every 3 months with blood tests and every 6 months with ultrasound scans. The size of lymph nodes is currently stable and my wife symptoms are completely gone. We last followed on 1st March 2019 and with help of god blessings plus Dr SK Gupta sir guidance, exceptionally well care things are fine. My wife rejoined her job soon after treatment and now its almost 18months since treatment completed and we r thinking to have 2nd baby to compete our family.
Visited For Lymphoma

Hello everyone, my name is Sheela Bhatt, 48yr,belongs to Bengaluru. I have been a housewife all my life leading a simple lifestyle with primarily a basic vegetarian diet. So, during November 2016 when I experienced a swelling in my right eye lid, I assumed it to be a simple because I did not have any pain. But to be on a safer side, my family and I visited Narayana Netralaya where my consulting doctor suspected the swelling to be cancer, hence suggested biopsy to confirm if it is cancer so as to help us plan our next few months of treatment. The biopsy results confirmed the dreaded cancer. Support from family, helped me overcome the scare and actually face the reality of fighting it. Extended family friend suggested Dr.SK Gupta who is an expert in the field of Stem cell transplant and an Hemato - Oncologist, to become our primary doctor. Neither I nor my family had any idea of whom to approach, but since Dr. SK Gupta seemed like a very good doctor, we approached him. Upon meeting him and discussing my case with him, I was instantly put at ease because he explained to me about the Lymphoma cancer- what is it ?, how can it be treated ? and the possibility of it recurring ? . Having knowledge about it really helped me with actually processing and dealing with cancer itself. Having Dr. SK Gupta as my doctor, helped me to believe that I will be able to overcome Cancer(T Cell Lymphoma) , so when the actual treatment plan was drawn up based on the extent of the cancer cells were distributed, even though it was 6 cycles of chemotherapy with 21 days gap between 2 cycles, even with the grueling prospects of this treatment, it always helped to know that I have an excellent support system in form of Dr. SK Gupta and my family. Dr. SK Gupta, explained to me in detail the possibility of side effects of chemotherapy, which usually starts after the 2nd cycle, side effects being, hair loss, stomach upset, frequent fevers. Since these were explained to me in detail, I was better prepared to the possibility of dealing with it. 4 chemotherapy cycles were completed in Bangalore, later Dr. SK Gupta shifted to Hyderabad to American Oncology Institute, Citizens Specialty hospital, but he never once dropped me as a patient. Since being motivated by him and taking the treatment, seemed to help me, we continued our treatment with him. His presence and motivation is one of the major things which helped me to overcome the side effects and focus on fighting the cancer. Once 4 cycles were completed, PET scan was done at to American Oncology Institute, Citizens Specialty hospital Hyderabad, where it was found that 95% of the cancer cells were destroyed, which is primarily due to love and support of family and my doctor. Autologous Hematopoietic Stem cell therapy is done to reduce the chances of the recurrence of my T cell Lymphoma. Having Dr. SK Gupta, really motivated me to stay positive and fight cancer, His support and motivation cannot be praised enough or appreciated enough. My family and I will always be indebted to him. For Autologous BMT I was in a sterile environment for around 20days and the experience was without any pain. I use to walk outside my BMT room two-three times a day and eat home made sterile food as well. At this point in time the caring and hospitality was very good, post that I was discharged. .
Tensions before treatment ? Truely speaking before chemo ,i thought its very high dose drugs, i may get very pain ,burning sensation ,i may not tolerate by taking chemotherapy, because we saw lot of side effect in net ,really i tensed a lot . After the doctor support and my husband support ,and one more thing i need to share that ,my aunty (my mother sister) also cancer patient ,she received 6 cycles of chemo (8 years back)now she is healthy and fine, by seeing these live example only i decided to take Chemotherapy.
Experience While chemo was on flow ? :- I received first chemo on 17/11/2016,really on that day i tensed a lot, my heart beat was increasing like anything, that it self i came to know that, chemo drugs will be given through IV fluids (in common language we call it as glucose bottle) ,in hospital before giving IV fluids nurses will put IV cannula ,while putting this i experienced slight pain full, but cannula will be removed by 2 days, after that they started chemotherapy ,i felt some what nausea. ,usually chemo drugs will be given for 1hour ,2hours,4hours depending upon drug and dose. Through cannula i experienced pain during first chemo, so in second chemo doctor explained about PICC LINE (its very new thing for all ) by this picc line also we can take chemotherapy. Compared to cannula its very very best ,we can keep it up to 6 months, with dressing once in 7-10days . As per my own experience picc line is very useful, no harm, no pain at all, we can take blood sample through picc line only, no need to prick anywhere, this my own experience , so, no need to worry while taking chemotherapy, just have a positive vibes insides and around you.
Fighting cancer, I have understood the importance of having a doctor like Dr. SK Gupta whose motivation and support has been unbelievable and very much needed along with the love, care and affection of my family. He never treated us like a patient but more like a family & friend. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Dr. SK Gupta and his time and to my family Members, for their love and support.
with all best wishes.......
