Pause for Perspective is a mental health and wellness organization. We are a group of passionate, committed and specialized Clinical Psychologists and Psychological Counselors with over thirty decades of work experience in the field of psychology, education and mental health. Our therapists are trained both international and in India in a variety of approaches that include current evidence based practices such as the third wave cognitive behavioral therapies including Mindfulness Based Symptom Management, ACT, and DBT. We also practice CBT, EMDR, Psychodynamic approaches. We are also trained in Couples Therapy. We see a variety of clients including: Couples experiencing marital discord, infertility issues, grief and loss, personal histories of abuse or trauma, and infidelity. Individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, difficult breakups or divorce, history of abuse or trauma, and unresolved grief. We also see LGBT clients. Families in transition, struggling with divorce and/or new stepfamilies, a death of a family member, or traumatic family event. Parents of children with sensory processing issues as well as mental retardation. Parents of children who have difficulty at school such as ADHD, defiance, aggression, violent or hurtful behavior etc. New mothers who seek help with adjusting to the new roles in their lives. Mothers with postpartum depression. Individuals experience suicidal thoughts or have attempted suicide. After moving back to India, I tried a couple of psychologists but I was disappointed with the kind of people present in the field in Hyderabad. The search finally ended when I met Mahima.
Midway through the FIRST session, I knew the I would come back and work with Mahima. She stood out because of a huge quality she has - EMPATHY.
1. Empathetic gentle soul. This field requires empathy; to be able to understand other people's pain and emotions is a difficult thing to do. But Mahima does a great job of that.
2. Her ability to guide you out of rough spots without rushing or making you feel awkward.
3. Multi-lingual - both Hindi and english. This is important as its so much easier to speak in a language that I was comfortable in.
4. Strong experienced professional who won't let her emotions interfere with your session
In the end, I would like to tell her to be the same and keep up the good work!

My husband and I had couple's counselling sessions with Sreedevi ma'am and found her approach effective. She helped us realise that effective communication can be restored in our relationship through practising certain techniques and making it part of our lives. Rather than give solutions she gave us tools to use to find our own solutions and we appreciate this so much. It was a liberating experience. She always has a smile on her face and explains her points as many times as it takes for us to understand it. I’am really thankful to Ruhi, I went there with a lot of self doubt 2 months back but I came out very strong. Aarathi asks questions that make one pause and think about the feelings one is experiencing. Enables a space for reflective conversation. Enables a space to spend engaged time exploring one specific feeling (or thought, or turn of phrase, or memory) at a time. The pace of the conversation and the manner of focus was helpful for me - as well as instructive - because I often think/ feel/ speak multiple things in a rush. The conversation enabled different framings/ perspectives for a few things I felt I 'knew' about, and this first appointment felt like a good start for going ahead into more interactions with her.
