*THYROID CARE with AYURVEDA*   Metabolism is a series of complex processes by which the human body converts food, water, oxygen into tissue, energy, waste products. It is a continuous process & goes on in every cell of the body.   Metabolism is controlled by endocrine glands. These glands secrets into the blood or lymph. The chief endocrine glands are thyroid, adrenal, pituitary, parathyroid, pancreas, ovaries, testes.   Thyroid gland is situated in the front of the neck & produces a hormone thyroxine, which plays a very important role in regulating general metabolism of the body. When it is defective, the conditions are known as hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism.   Vertigo, weight gain, hair fall, hoarseness of voice, menstrual irregularities etc are the symptoms of hypothyroidism. And sudden weight loss, rapid heartbeat, excessive.  sweating, menstrual irregularities, infertility etc seen in hyperthyroidism.   According to Ayurveda, these conditions are due to imbalance in Rasa-Rakta (Blood) dhatu, and also "Agni" or metabolic "Fire" imbalance.   To treat these thyroid related problems Ayurvedic medicines, Diet, Panchakarma, Yoga, Pranayam etc are helpful.
