  1. High Blood Pressure.
  2. Kidney Function.
  3. Blood fat (Lipid) levels.
  4. Average blood sugar levels depicted by GLYCOSYLATED HAEMOGLOBIN.

BLOOD FAT LEVELS

Different types of fats are normally present in our blood. Most of these are harmful if present above a certain limit. The level of Cholesterol should be below 200mg% & that of Triglyceride below 150mg% in a diabetic person.if high, blood fats should be controlled with dietary measures, exercise, and drugs.

Kidney Function

Diabetes affects the performance of kidneys. As a result, kidneys do not clear the waste of body which continues to accumulate in the body and cause damage. Urine for micro Albuminuria test can indicate early damage to the kidneys. However, this damage can be reversed if treated in early steps.

S.  Creatinine is another test of kidney function.

A normal creatinine level is 1.5mg% for men and 1.4mg% for women. Both these tests should be got done every year.

High Blood

pressure uncontrolled, high blood pressure can lead to heart attack, Stroke, Kidney failure or Vision loss. Blood pressure should be checked on every visit to the doctor and should be below 130/80 mm.

Glycosylated Haemoglobin

The glucose level in our blood is constantly changing in response to food, activity, and effects of drugs. An average blood glucose level, depicting information of last three months in called GLYCOSYLATED HAEMOGLOBIN. Better the control, lesser is the glycosylated haemoglobin. The normal value is less than 6%. However, diabetic can have high values and should try to bring it below 7%.

If the above targets are achieved, diabetes cannot damage the body organs much and a patient can have a long and healthy life.
