Getting late to work/school is not a valid reason to skip breakfast

For every excuse given by you or your child for skipping breakfast, there is a reasonable solution to it. Better don’t state these lame excuses and be conscious to start your pleasant day with a healthy breakfast.

  • “I don’t feel hungry  early in the morning.” You can start your day with a glass of fresh fruit juice or a piece of whole-wheat toast. If you are hungry later, go for a mid-morning snack of hard-boiled egg, low-fat or fat-free milk or yoghurt, low-fat string cheese or a whole-wheat bagel.
  • “I’m running out of time to prepare and eat breakfast.” You will never come up with this statement if your kitchen is stocked with easy-to-prepare foods such as breakfast cereal, instant oatmeal, small bagels, yoghurt and fresh fruits.
  • "I'll gain  weight." Let go of the myth that eating breakfast will make you gain weight. Rather, proofs exist to support the fact that skipping breakfast will make you overeat your snacks or the next meal.
  • "I am not a fan of the foods served for breakfast”. There is no hard-and-fast rule on the food items that need to be consumed for breakfast. It can be any food that you enjoy. Maybe a slice of fruit bread, a bowl of soup or chapatti with vegetable fillings.

Keep in mind that breakfast is the body’s way of refuelling energy to keep you going strong throughout the day.
