Professional teeth cleaning is a regular procedure that one needs to get done by the dentist or oral hygienist after every 6 months for the maintenance of good oral health. Here are a few instructions that should be followed after the treatment.

1. Brush thoroughly (in gentle circular motion ) preferably with a soft toothbrush and desensitizing toothpaste as prescribed and demonstrated by the dental surgeon since teeth maybe sensitive to cold, hot and sweet food for a few days.

2. Gums maybe slightly irritated and sore for a few days after the procedure. Use an antimicrobial mouth wash as prescribed by the dental surgeon, limited to 1 or 2  weeks. You can also use warm saline water rinses as prescribed. (Half glass warm water + 1tsp salt)

3. Teeth maybe sensitive to cold, hot and sweet food for a few days. Please avoid eating or drinking food and liquids that are too hot and/or too cold.

Scaling and Polishing is a dental cleaning procedure that removes soft and hardened plaque from teeth with an ultrasonic scaler. This is followed by polishing to remove stains and create a smooth surface.
