There is no doubt to the reality that gadgets have taken over our lives like it had never before. We think it to be a medium to make our lives easier, which of course, they do to some extent. We often use them to entertainment our kids so that they will stop pestering us, or disturb us while doing any task.

There’s no harm as long as it is just ‘sometimes’. But if your kid is always busy with the smartphone, it indicates some trouble. Replacing human love and affection have more complications than often considered.

Parents are meant to spend time with their kids not only for their emotional needs, but to raise the child with good mannerisms and habits, among other things. When your child spends this time with the television or phones, they are likely to adopt this mannerism from whatever they are watching and observing there’, says Dr Neha Bansal, an expert paediatrician.

She emphasises the point that it is not only bad for them emotionally but physically as well. If they are close to gadgets and spend most of their times there, they will develop illnesses they shouldn’t be aware of at such an early age. This is due to the lack of physical activity they expected to be involved in, in this age.

Moreover, they will increasingly feel alien to their real surroundings. They won’t be active members of the family, taking part in family things or just interacting with family and friends.

So, what do you think? Are your kids closer to you or gadgets? If gadgets, you need to take immediate steps to revert this. It’s not only for the parent-child relationship but for a healthier life overall.
